In Zebra we are seeking an experienced and skilled DevOps Engineer with a specialization in monitoring, particularly possessing expertise in APM tools such as Data Dog/Dynatrace, Prometheus, and Grafana. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing monitoring solutions to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems.
Responsibilities:
Advanced APM Implementation:- Spearhead the implementation and optimization of advanced Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools, with a focus on Data Dog/Dynatrace expertise.
- Leverage Data Dog/Dynatrace capabilities to provide deep insights into application performance, bottlenecks, and user experience.
Prometheus Mastery:
- Demonstrate proficiency in Prometheus for collecting and analyzing system metrics, ensuring high-level observability of the entire infrastructure.
- Develop and refine Prometheus configurations to meet specific monitoring requirements.
Grafana Dashboard Leadership:
- Lead the creation and refinement of Grafana dashboards, utilizing in-depth knowledge to visualize critical metrics and deliver actionable insights.
- Tailor Grafana dashboards to meet the diverse monitoring needs of different teams and applications.
Continuous Improvement in Monitoring:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in monitoring practices, staying abreast of the latest features and updates in APM technologies.
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to the monitoring stack for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
Training and Knowledge Sharing:
- Conduct training sessions and share expertise with team members to elevate the overall proficiency in APM tools.
- Create documentation and guidelines for efficient utilization of APM tools within the organization.
Infrastructure Automation:
- Design, implement, and maintain automated deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to automate manual processes, ensuring efficient and reliable infrastructure deployment.
Configuration Management:
- Utilize configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to manage and version infrastructure configurations.
- Implement and enforce best practices for configuration management, ensuring consistency across environments.
Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents promptly, diagnosing and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
- Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Implement IaC using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to define and manage infrastructure resources.
- Maintain version control for infrastructure code to track changes and facilitate collaboration.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and provide infrastructure support.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to convey technical information and participate in project planning.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement security best practices in infrastructure and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with the security team to conduct regular audits and assessments.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, striving for increased efficiency and reliability.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to monitoring and DevOps practices.
Documentation:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Foster knowledge sharing within the team and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent experience. Advanced Degree preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with end user issues
- Demonstrated technical experience
- Demonstrated experience working independently and collaboratively on projects
- Demonstrated experience trouble shooting
- Broad knowledge of applicable IT systems/applications
- Experience developing new systems and tools
- Experience in documenting and maintaining up to date systems procedures
- Advanced analytical skills
- Demonstrated Project Management skills
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high growth, rapidly changing environment
