Position Summary:
The General Manager (GM) is the cornerstone of the resort's operations, overseeing all facets from daily staff management to guest interactions. As the brand ambassador for Machan Resorts LLP, the GM provides visionary leadership, ensuring excellence in service culture, operations, and guest satisfaction. This role demands close collaboration with Corporate Management and Partners, aiming to achieve the resort's financial and guest satisfaction targets. In essence, we seek a visionary leader with a pragmatic, hands-on methodology to oversee operations at The Machan.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
- Supervise all resort operations as outlined in the organizational chart.
- Conduct regular briefings and meetings with department heads, emphasizing hands-on departmental walkthroughs.
- Ensure implementation of and continual adherence to the resort's operating controls, SOPs, policies, procedures, and service standards.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and present the resort's annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan, and Capital Budget.
- Continuously monitor the resort's financial performance, ensuring revenue targets are met and profitability is maintained.
- Understand and act upon P&L statements, devising impactful strategies.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for Partners and stakeholders.
Guest Experience:
- Personally manage guest interactions across the resort.
- Ensure all decisions prioritize the resort's reputation and guest satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the sales team for new client acquisition.
Team Leadership:
- Develop and execute a staffing plan to elevate talent across the resort, with support from the HR department.
- Mentor and develop the Resort Executive team, fostering career progression.
- Take ownership of all guest interactions and be accountable for department heads' responsibilities.
- Provide micro-leadership, ensuring effective team performance.
Strategic Planning:
- Lead in all business planning aspects, from capital projects to customer service enhancements.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors for essential equipment and services.
- Liaise with government authorities for licensing compliance and procurement.
Quality Assurance:
- Respond to audits, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Safeguard the quality of operations for both internal and external audits.
Prerequisites:
- The ideal GM is a seasoned hospitality professional with exemplary management skills, hands-on experience, and superior communication abilities. The role necessitates living on the property for the initial 6-9 months, transitioning to a local daily commute thereafter.
Education:
- A university degree in Hotel Management or a related field. Experience in opening, managing, or re-positioning a resort is essential.
Experience:
- 15-20 years in the hospitality industry, with a focus on luxury and international settings, preferably including remote locations.
- 5-10 years as a General Manager.
