JOB TITLE Area Sales Manager

DEPARTMENT - Sales

LOCATION – India, Lucknow (Field Based)

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join a dynamic team as an Area Sales Manager for a leading global manufacturer of contact lenses .

You will be responsible for meeting sales targets by generating sales demands and implementation of on ground marketing programmes (especially BTL activities) for assigned territory. Additionally, you will be responsible for secondary sales & market share in the designated outlets, key product segment leadership, set and work according to route plan to achieve productive width and depth of coverage, identifying and opening new accounts, timely reporting in prescribed formats. Providing market MIS and competitive information.

Essential functions & responsibilities:

  • Regular coverage of optical outlets and Eye Care Practitioners under the sales staff territory to achieve the set targets. Ensure coverage as per route plan and achieve set daily call averages.
  • Promote the sales of the Cooper products including putting up POSM and implementing in shop branding/activity.
  • Review with customers monthly sales (vs. yearly target, by product) and take appropriate action to meet or exceed given targets.
  • Identify and classify optical retail outlets as A & B class based on company norms and set daily call plans/monthly coverage plans for the same.
  • Target A & B class accounts with specific product promotion plan and track product wise sales for the same
  • Quarterly review of all outlets under coverage with Regional Manager and identify top 10 outlets for development every quarter.
  • Provide ad hoc services to trade customers as a form of goodwill services (e.g. handling complaints, trial lenses etc.)
  • Conduct individual outlets training and sell-in of all Cooper products with special emphasis on key product segments/ or promotional launches.
  • Plan the sales visit in advance and to discuss with the Regional Manager the route, purpose, and have a weekly review before setting out for sales visits.
  • To do a complaints check on all returned damaged lenses in coordination with the Professional Services personnel.
  • Credit limits review with the Regional Manager for key optical retail customers every quarter and all new customers.
  • Participate in routine product stock take at customer outlets.
  • Provide market/sales feedback and complete all necessary reports within the stipulated time frame.
  • Provide detailed competitive feedback including pricing, promotions, new product launches, trade offers etc. on a monthly basis.

Travel Requirements:

Extensive national (8-10 days a month) within assigned territory and further as required and occasional international travel.

What skills and experience should you have?

  • Written and Spoken fluency in English and Hindi, other local dialects.
  • Proven sales skills and in-depth market knowledge.
  • High Integrity.
  • Strong Planning & Organization skills.
  • Good detail/operational/tactical experience.
  • Excellent working relationships.
  • Minimum 3-year frontline sales experience in an optical company or organized FMCG/Pharma company.
  • Graduate with a Management/Business/Science/Marketing degree.
