Job Description:
As a Vendor Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and establishing relationships with potential vendors to meet the company's needs. Your role will involve a combination of strategic planning, negotiation, and relationship management to ensure the quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of the vendor base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Identification: Research and identify potential vendors that align with the company's needs, goals, and values. This may involve attending industry events, networking, and utilizing online platforms.
- Vendor Evaluation: Assess potential vendors based on criteria such as product quality, pricing, reliability, capacity, and compliance with regulations and standards.
- Negotiation: Negotiate favourable terms and conditions with vendors to achieve the best value for the company. This includes pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and service level agreements.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential vendors. Communicate effectively to ensure mutual understanding and alignment of expectations.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor vendor performance regularly to ensure adherence to agreed-upon terms and quality standards. Address any issues or concerns promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the vendor base. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement changes and drive efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure that vendors comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, such as ethical sourcing practices, environmental standards, and labor practices.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with vendor relationships, such as supply chain disruptions, quality issues, or financial instability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree preferred.
- Proven experience in vendor management, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Knowledge of relevant industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
