Job Description


Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies and software products.


Boeing Global Services (BGS) Training Solutions organization provides industry leadership in commercial and defense aviation training and capabilities, including custom software development, engineering and technical services, and a range of services to support training centers and pilot provisioning worldwide. We are committed to bringing more agility and efficiency to our customers than ever before. BIETC is a strategic partner working with global stakeholders across Boeing making key contributions in Training Solutions.


The Training Solutions SoftwareSenior Manager will lead all the software engineering aspects of Training Solutions activities across Boeing India Engineering (BIE) and be a member of the Boeing India Software Engineering (BISE) senior leadership team.


The successful candidate will be a true versatile role model with exemplary leadership abilities who exhibits the potential to take on broader challenges within or beyond the role; possesses a high capacity for learning agility and the ability to effectively engage globally across all levels of employees throughout the Boeing Company to achieve optimal business outcomes and will manage first line managers and senior technical team members and be accountable for multiple projects (budgets, schedule and performance management).


This position will be located in Bangalore, India and work collaboratively with several in-country and global stakeholders to successfully execute statements of work.


Position Responsibilities


Responsibilities will include but not limited to:


  • Lead a team of first level managers and senior individual contributors performing engineering and technology work in the areas of Training Solutions.
  • Develops software engineering organizational and technical strategies.
  • Executes on Software Engineering resourcing strategy including who does work, where work is done, capacity and skill sets.
  • Establish, implement and govern Software Engineering Best Practices
  • Leads / drives innovation initiatives to beat the competition and creating ideas for growth.
  • Manage organization level budgets, schedule and overall performance across multiple projects.
  • Develops and implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are addressed in an efficient and timely manner. Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees to execute the plan. Reviews plans' execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues.
  • Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
  • Forecasts resource needs and makes hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Provides on-going developmental feedback.
  • Makes compensation recommendations in regards to hiring salaries and salary review actions.Recognizes contributions of individuals and teams to improve employee satisfaction and retain a skilled and motivated workforce. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc...
  • This position will create and maintain relationships with global stakeholders and work closely with them on planning, forecasting, execution and delivery.
  • Conveys organizational messages to facilitate the accomplishment of workgroup, project or process goals. Proactively communicates with employees, peers and customers.
  • Provide direction and guidance to support the advancement of tools, processes, procedures with incorporation of industry best practices.
  • Lead and deploy agile methodologies and other industry best practices across software lifecycle.
  • Lead organization level initiatives and coordinate activities across multiple engineering capabilities.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Develop and lead a highly engaged and motivated team.
  • Develop and execute best practices related to Training Solutions.
  • This position will require occasional travel within India and internationally.

This position allows hybrid work option. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite based on business needs.

Qualification:


  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree is required as Basic Qualification
  • Past experience and demonstrated success in leading multiple technical software development teams.
  • Experienced in Aerospace Systems / Subsystems Simulation and operations.
  • Past experience related to Flight Deck and Airline Operations.
  • Past experience related to Web application and Simulation development.
  • Past experience related to big data analytics, Machine Learning and modeling.
  • Experienced in managing teams developing Training, Simulation and Analytics applications
  • Knowledgeable about the DO-178 standards (‘Software Consideration in Airborne Systems & Equipment Certification’)
  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational challenges.
  • Must have strong team building skills.Must have demonstrated ability to accomplish results through direct reports, colleagues in other parts of an organization, and partners.
  • Strong experience in all phases of the software development life cycle and agile methodology
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership experience in a major aerospace organization; ability to understand and communicate with Global Executives/managers, and experts over a wide range of engineering disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in people management role
  • Knowledge and understanding of technologies, policies and procedures related to engineering
  • Technical and Project Management leadership skills to ensure flawless execution of engineering statements of work
  • Must have ability to accomplish results through effective collaboration working with all stakeholders including colleagues in other parts of Boeing and suppliers
  • Ability to work well on virtual teams across multiple time-zones and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, Statements of Work, and connect technology to business considerations (e.g., ROI).
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.

Typical Education & Experience:


Bachelor or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering with over 15 years of work experience in medium to large aerospace/aviation companies with at least 5 years of experience as a people manager. A Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) is desirable.


Relocation: This position is eligible for domestic relocation within India.
