Job description

The role will ensure South Asia runs its complete operations in compliance with the varied and complex laws of India, India GAAP and sound governance principles, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance and commercial operations.The Finance Controller will provide timely and accurate financial information to support decision making in the South Asia business,commercial and operational activities that drive sustainable growth. The Financial Controller will provide finance partnership support to the Sales/Field teams   and ensure processes and controls are in place to facilitate business and support business growth in a healthy and sustainable manner. The Finance Controller will partner closely with Regional Business Managers to ensure sales and collections happen in a smooth manner, ultimately leading to better customer satisfaction, both for our customers and channel partners.


The Finance Controller will also manage the outsourced Finance functions through the appointed third party service provider. The role will lead the Finance functions, training and assimiliating the team as required.


Accountabilities:


Accountability 1: Timely and accurate accounting, Financial Statement Management and Financial Reporting


  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records of the South Asia business, in accordance with financial accounting policies and procedures and accounting standards, including local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ensure internal controls, checks and balances for business processes are effectively monitored and adopted
  • Act in accordance with regulatory and legal compliance, corporate governance and observance of the code of conduct and business relationship policies
  • Ensure timely completion of General Ledger (GL) reconciliations, with a detailed review of reconciling items and prompt clearance. Identify all risks and opportunities on the balance sheet and propose effective possible solutions
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures
  • Ensure payables controls, expense processing, capital expenditure and intercompany accounts are effective and comply with company policy
  • Ensure debtors controls are effective and collections are maximized – ensuring DSO is in check
  • Ad hoc business support related to transactional accounting processes
  • Execute monthly close processes and assist in preparation of financial reports with commentary
  • Analysis of monthly reports and producing calculations for financial indicators for the business
  • Coordinate efforts with the regional finance team to ensure that journal data entries are made accurately and on time for monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Completion of general ledger recs and monthly review meetings with the finance team locally

Accountability 2: Manage statutory and compliance obligations


  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting records for audit and tax compliance
  • Complete timely filing and accurate returns and payments for indirect and direct taxes
  • Detailed monthly TDS reviews (including employees) and timely remittances to the India Tax Authorities (ITA)
  • Responsible for all audits: Statutory, Internal, Tax, Transfer Pricing, GST etc.
  • Maintain Secretarial records and ensure they are in accordance with the Statute. Liaise with the Company Secretary for review and certification of Secretarial records. Assist with the maintenance of the company minute book with maintenance of proper board minutes and associated resolutions. Ensure all statutory filing per Companies Act
  • Responsible for ensuring all returns related to Employee Benefits, including provident fund, gratuity and insurance are filled correctly and on time
  • Maintain adequate insurance cover for CIN and coordinating with broker
  • Complete all formalities related to Customs Department’s Special Valuation Branch requirements from  India regarding importing products from Limited (Global Operations)
  • Compliance – ensuring all agreements and contracts are aligned as per law and internal policies

Accountability 3:  Business partnering


  • Implement tight yet light business processes, to help grow sustainable and compliant business
  • Work on various business partnering projects to help the sales team deliver better, to make finance an agile function, to deliver on analysis which helps the organization make decisions and show the right position to the relevant stakeholders
  • Work closely with Regional Business Managers to ensure time and accurate sales and collections
  • Seek regular feedback on process and controls and implement continuous improvement practices

Accountability 4:Process Improvement


  • Assist with periodical internal audits (including Quality Audits), and development and maintenance of process documents/manuals
  • Support regional and global projects, as required
  • Continuously provide input and solutions to processes to improve deliverables
  • Improve AP and AR processes – through process changes and automations
  • Bring in productivity in terms of time efficiencies

Accountability 5:   Working Capital Management


  • Sending import remittances to(Global Operations) and ensure EBIT guarantee from (Global Operations) is received in a timely manner with complete documentation
  • Manage all bank guarantees that India needs to provide various authorities, ensuring all documentation has been completed 
  • Cash management and Forecasts [Monthly,  Weekly]
  • Liaison with banks for day to day operations
