Caterpillar’s Autonomy and Automation Division is seeking a System Engineer for developing Productivity & Autonomy Site Solutions for Construction & Mining industries. The site solutions under the brand of Cat MineStar & VisionLink involve hardware and software components utilizing IoT technology overlaid on a wide variety of machine, operational and contextual data. Through MineStar & VisionLink provides customers ability to improve site productivity either through insights to take actions and / or operate autonomously.
In this role of Autonomy System Engineer incumbent will
- Define and maintain the integration of software systems that are hosted either onboard the machine and/or offboard the machine.
- Accountable for the end-to-end System Definition for the solutions that solves the business problem.
- Work across Caterpillar’s teams to leverage the existing capabilities to avoid duplicated systems.
- Help in troubleshooting problems through his/her system diagrams, support Failure Mode Effective Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis & Risk Analysis
Required Experience/ Skills
- Working experience on large solutions with multiple software systems
- Working experience and knowledge on Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Working experience on Systems Integration and / or Systems Integration Validation
- Technical Knowledge on Cloud Software Development
- Technical Knowledge on Communication/Networking Concepts & Protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Sockets)
- Basic programming skills, knowledge on configuration management systems.
Desired Experience/ Skills
- Hands-on System Level Integration of automotive / construction/mining / industrial embedded control systems
- Hands on Experience in Networking concepts & protocols (TCP/ IP, UDP, sockets) and knowledge Vehicle Protocols Knowledge (CAN/J1939)
- Knowledge on Cybersecurity
- Experience in System Integration Validation
- Ability to identify, and track defects at a System Integration with excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail to debug/find root cause.
- Cloud Practitioners’ certification
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics curriculum
- Relevant work experience required: 6 to 10 years.
