Job Description:
As a Junior Civil Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, design, and implementation of various Civil Engineering projects. Working under the supervision of senior engineers, you will contribute to the development of infrastructure solutions, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Support: Assist senior engineers in the planning, design, and execution of Civil Engineering projects, including site investigations, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.
- Design and Drafting: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to prepare detailed drawings, plans, and specifications for site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and other Civil Engineering components.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct technical analysis and calculations related to structural integrity, materials selection, hydraulic systems, and geotechnical properties. Interpret and apply engineering principles to solve design challenges.
- Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals from regulatory authorities for project implementation. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards.
- Construction Oversight: Support construction activities by reviewing contractor submittals, monitoring progress, and performing quality control inspections. Address field issues and provide technical guidance to resolve construction-related challenges.
- Project Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence. Organize and manage project files to ensure accessibility and traceability of information.
- Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and solicit feedback. Assist in preparing project proposals, presentations, and progress reports as needed.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with project activities and propose mitigation measures to minimize their impact on project outcomes. Participate in safety meetings and promote a culture of safety on construction sites.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, surveyors, and environmental specialists, to integrate Civil Engineering solutions into comprehensive project designs.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in Civil Engineering. Pursue continuing education and training opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering, including internships or co-op positions.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or Revit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
