Business Group Overview

The Merchant Sales & Acquiring (MS&A) team is the global Visa organization entrusted with the responsibility of growing acceptance, deploying our acceptance payment Solutions and deepening partnerships. Visa has reinforced its focus on long-term acceptance growth by enhancing market investments and building the right talent and organization to execute.

Acceptance growth is central to the India and South Asia growth story. Our three-pronged growth strategy includes deeper seller-enabler partnerships, deployment of fit-for-purpose acceptance Solutions and creating the right ecosystem for growth. Hence, deeper partnerships with acquirers, merchants, payment intermediaries and fintechs is a critical component of Visa’s expand access strategy. Equally so is the ability for Visa to enable better customer experiences and grow the business for our partners. Visa facilitates this by providing Solutions and platforms that reduce friction in commerce, enhance convenience and ensure higher security in payments.

Team and Position Summary

The Acceptance, Seller Solutions and Strategic Initiatives team is responsible for

  • Deploying and adapting Visa’s acceptance solutions with Visa network participants and partners. This includes the strategy, design and GTM for key new solutions such as QR scan-to-pay & innovations, SMB-oriented solutions such as app-based acceptance and tap-to-phone and offline payments. This team is responsible for seller-enablement for Visa’s suite of digital solutions such as Visa Click to Pay, Standing Instructions, and Installments.

  • Own the management of all strategic initiatives (business focus areas) on the seller-side including tokenization, improving e-commerce experience and growth, growing contactless penetration, QR expansion, deploying & proliferating Visa Direct solutions, and Acquirer VAS solutions. This team is also accountable for segment growth strategies and deployment such as cross-border acquiring and transit. The team will also manage cross-functional initiatives such as POS or cross-border marketing.

  • The team is also accountable for all Business Planning and strategy for the MS&A organization as well as performance management and analytics.


The team will also oversee new business development with payment solutions partners such as ISOs, POS and VAS providers. This position and reports to the Senior Director - Acceptance, Solutions and Strategic Initiatives, India & South Asia.


Role Responsibilities

Key responsibilities and outcomes include:

  • Manage seller-side solutions deployment and proliferation across the range of Visa e-commerce and point-of-sale solutions.

  • Develop and progress the strategy & execution of key solutions (such as Tokenization, Click to Pay, Visa Direct, etc.) for seller-side participants across INSA markets. Identify and size opportunity for value propositions that leverage Visa product capabilities. Prioritize clients, third parties and segments for adoption & expansion by assessing revenue opportunity and strategic importance.

  • Be a key contributor to new product development & adaptation, and work with Visa Product and other cross-functional teams on GTM plans and monitoring performance. Engage closely with market sales team (AEs) to build out unique, creative and impactful solutions by integrating insights from clients (growth/focus areas, business challenges, innovation plan) and Visa internal experts/functions supporting collaborative solution development.

  • Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with internal/cross-functional stakeholders to make recommendations & action plan, and be accountable for seller-side deliverables.

  • Identify and partner with technology players to develop relevant in-market seller-side value propositions. Drive acceptance development sales activity and solutions sales with relevant partners working closely with market sales teams (AEs)

  • Manage the Business Planning and performance processes including progress against AOP and MYP and performance management, and be the single point of management reporting for the MS&A organization.

  • Ensure periodic delivery of reports and dashboards within schedule to provide clearer visibility on trends and insights. Manage operating cadence for reviewing performance through Business Head Reviews, QBRs, etc.

  • Manage day-to-day project and team activities to meet milestones and timelines across Seller Solutions, and Business Planning/performance for INSA markets.

  • Develop thought leadership on seller-side solutions & processes. Benchmark market and competitive trends in the acquiring space across all markets in INSA cluster. Analyze and synthesize trends & research material into consumable strategy outputs connected to business goals.


Qualifications

  • Payments expertise with a wide perspective on all elements of payments. The candidate must be able to collaborate and drive outcomes across various elements of payments such as merchant acquiring, processing, technology, payment facilitators & other intermediaries, etc.
  • Program Management and Deployment: manage solution development and deployment working with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and track against detailed project plans with timely management reporting and escalation to ensure timely delivery.
  • Market understanding of the payments industry and India / South Asia market landscape. Industry experience in the payments ecosystem including acquiring banks, payments facilitators, merchant acceptors, payments networks or fintech operators is desirable.
  • Familiarity with payment systems (switches, gateways, directories etc.) and architectures. Understanding of mobile payment and e-commerce platforms, services, and commercial models
  • Seven or more years of relevant experience with a graduate degree or higher education in business or technology. Ability to engage meaningfully with senior partner executives across banks, merchants, payments intermediaries and technology firms.
  • Functional experience in product development, project management and or strategy/consulting is desirable.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated quantitative rigor. Attention to detail and the ability to structure and analyze financial and operational data will be an asset.
  • Good internal and external stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Should be comfortable interacting with and presenting to senior management.
  • Curiosity and keenness to develop an understanding of new technologies, payment business models and profitability drivers.
  • Flexibility, cultural adaptability, and ability to navigate complexity is required to succeed in a multi-cultural, matrixed environment managing varied stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, results driven, customer focused. Should be a strong team-player.
  • Full time position, based in Mumbai, India. Ability to travel for business is required.
