Job Purpose
Lead - EV- Battery Testing & Validation role will encompass designing, executing, and reporting tests to fulfill design validation requirements for Battery systems and components (Battery, Charger, BMS) as per the Design Validation Plan (DVP) and communicate the findings to the relevant stakeholders. The individual will also be responsible for managing the test labs.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for system and component level validation deliverables of Battery pack, BMS, Charger, PDU components.
- Responsible for developing comprehensive DVP test plans for functional, structural, performance, and environmental validation along with budget estimates, resource planning, and test preparation.
- Individuals should be knowledgeable about different test standards and homologation requirements as well as LV/HV testing.
- Individuals will be responsible for lab requirements about the Battery/Charger testing.
- Review and improve existing validation techniques, test methods, and processes with a focus on automation to avoid redundancy and achieve better throughput.
- Individuals will coordinate internally/externally for the timely completion of the Battery pack, BMS, Charger, PDU testing.
- The individual will be responsible for battery/charger testing as per the homologation requirements at bench level as per AIS 156, IEC, etc.
Work Experience
Education
BE degree in an appropriate engineering discipline - ME preferred
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in battery testing
- Experience with battery testing as per the design validation plans and homologation requirements
- Good understanding of battery/charger operation and all the components involved
- Experience in using a bi-directional power supply, electronic load back, battery cycler, Vector CANoe, data loggers, AC variac, RCD, etc.
- Failure simulation and root cause analysis. Should be able to manage pack-level tests alone, such as HPPC, efficiency test, SOC vs OCV, etc.
- Strong engineering experience in charging communication standards & vehicle charging testing methodologies
- Hands-on experience in performing homologation tests as per the AIS 156 for battery/charger
- Knowledge of testing as per export homologation requirements is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
