About the role

We seek a highly analytical individual with strong business acuity to join our newly formed Field Reporting Service Team. This team supports the US BBU (Biopharmaceuticals Business Unit) Strategic Field Operations (SFO) department and AZ's US BBU Field Force for their Reporting & Analytics needs.

The role involves leading one of four Dev/Ops teams, each with 6-7 Report Analysts, while also serving as the key liaison between the Dev/Ops team and the overall Team Lead/Business Analyst. Crucial qualifications include a robust understanding of the pharmaceutical sales industry, coupled with exceptional operational and technical skills in data/analytics. Responsibilities include interpreting evolving SFO needs, gathering requirements, translating them into technical terms, and collaborating with the Field Reporting Service Team to develop and be responsible for technology solutions addressing business challenges.

The candidate must excel in interpreting field data, deriving business insights, and offering strategic recommendations. These insights will drive decision-making, streamline sales operations, and elevate overall business performance for various AZ brands.

Lastly, the preferred candidate will possess extensive experience in Business Intelligence (BI) tools (i.e. Power BI) and a strong aim to aid AZ in revolutionizing their Field Reporting methodology through Power BI utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly handle 6-7 Dev/Ops Reporting Analysts (majority of Analysts to be based in Chennai, one Analyst to be based in Guadalajara, Mexico)

  • Lead Pod in driving end to end activities to meet set achievements and provide necessary mentorship and coaching for team growth

  • Effectively collaborate with other team members across the globe to ensure seamless communication and sharing of Field Reporting tasks

  • Strong decision making & problem-solving capabilities; ability to balance the broader picture with technical approach & planning

  • Interpret field data from various sources to develop business insights

  • Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis to optimize sales and marketing strategies and effectiveness of field teams

  • Understand business needs to define a problem statement, requirements and ability to activate technical team to design and build complex solutions using Programing languages, ETL platform, etc.

  • Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvements & innovation to improve efficiency and accuracy of business processes

  • Provide input into business priority decisions based on targeted outcomes, timing and team capacity.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business, or related field

  • Proven ability in data analysis, preferable in the pharmaceutical industry

  • 3+ years experience in people management. Demonstrated leadership and coordination of team to deliver single cohesive strategy

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in pharmaceutical sales operations, or related field

  • Experience with a Business Intelligence (BI) tool(s) is required

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets, conduct quality checks and validations, and build dynamic dashboards as business tools / assets in Excel, Power BI (or other BI tool), VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), Microsoft Office

  • Proficient, with 2+ years of recent experience in data analysis tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, VBA, Power BI, SQL, Python, AWS (Amazon Web Services), Databricks, Microsoft Office, ETL is highly desirable

  • Proficient with syndicated and custom, primary, and secondary data, with inferential analysis and ability to identify insights from data

  • Direct experience with Pharma sales performance and sales execution data sets (e.g. IQVIA, eLAAD, Xponent, Veeva CRM)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and international teams

  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of effective business partnership as demonstrated by business impact and ability to influence others

  • Ability to derive, summarize and communicate insights from analyses.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of internal customers' data and analytical needs focusing on the customer-facing model leadership

  • Champion the use of local customer insight in strategic and resourcing decisions across the business

  • Collaborate with US Strategic Field Operations to ensure success of key business processes and coordination on joint initiatives

  • Identify and prioritize enhancements and new analytic capabilities

  • Develop innovative analytical practices to create and sustain competitive advantage

  • Capability in applying deeper technical skills and knowledge that is shared across the functional area (e.g., deep knowledge of key data sets, modeling capabilities, etc.)

  • Ability to distill complex concepts into simple frameworks which are easy to understand

  • Monitors the external environment to stay up to date on leading analytic capabilities, both within and outside of pharma, which can be applied within the organization.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a substantial number of business stakeholders and cross-functional business partners

  • Effective communication and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to develop and effectively present succinct, compelling reviews of independently developed analyses infused with insight and business implications/actions to be considered

  • Strategic and critical thinking with the ability to engage, build and maintain credibility with Commercial Leadership Team

  • Knowledge of AZ brand and science is highly desirable
