About Ashoka Centre for a People-centric Energy Transition:
Ashoka Centre for a People-centric Energy Transition (ACPET) was launched in March 2023 to fill a critical
knowledge gap in India, and the global south, with a state-of-the-art research centre focused exclusively on the
daunting challenge of achieving an energy transition that is both context-responsive and advances the three pillars
of sustainable development.
The Centre seeks to address itself to the challenge of “how-to” design systemic transition strategies and
programmes so as to stay on track to meet nationally defined climate and sustainability goals while keeping the
human dimensions of such pathways in clear focus.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Design research studies as per requirements of ACPET focus areas and projects; and drafting Terms of

• Draft literature reviews, research summaries, and grant proposals.

• Draft questionnaires and qualitative discussion guidelines, and develop/guide sampling designs for

• Undertake exploratory field travel to collect insights from ground, and internalise the voice of

• Undertake field travel for monitoring on-going qualitative and quantitative surveys, provide feedback for

• Monitoring data collection by Survey Agencies; and review analysis and reports submitted by Survey

• Monitoring and analysing raw data from surveys and provide interim data-based feedback to Survey

• Review reports and documents submitted by Survey Agency.

• Undertake independent analysis of primary and secondary datasets - statistical and econometric analyses

• Facilitate periodic interaction with key stakeholder in energy and environment ecosystem, ranging from

This position also offers the opportunity to work directly with faculty and researchers at Ashoka University, as
well as its partners, working in the energy and the environment domain.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Master’s in economics, statistics, population sciences, social science disciplines, or other relevant

• Strong track record of outstanding academic performance.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in survey research, and preferably 1 - 2 years of experience in energy,

• Fluent in English and Hindi.

• Experience (minimum 3 - 5 years) in designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative (primary)

• Analysis skills, with proficiency in SPSS/STATA/R and Survey CTO, etc.

• High presentation and report writing skills with proficiency in MS office i.e. Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.

• Domain working knowledge of the energy, economy and environment sector is preferred.

• Ability to work both autonomously and in a team.

• Willingness to work in rural and urban areas and travel across India (as required).
