PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The Project Manager is an operational and strategic position involved with all key stakeholders and user communications across all departments and groups. He/she shall be responsible for planning and executing all digital and technology projects for the university. The core focus of this position will be to deliver the projects and initiatives on time, within budget, resources, and expected quality.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities for this role are:
§ Developing and leading the Digital project management office (DPMO): The DPMO that helps achieve better quality, consistency, and oversight of projects across the enterprise
§ Develop and maintain project management methodologies, standards, and tools.
§ Establishing the organization's approach to the full life cycle of projects: This includes everything from project planning, initiation, resourcing, execution, monitoring, control, and closure
§ Ensuring the DPMO meets performance targets, aligns with the organization's strategic objectives, and adheres to best practices.
§ Acting as a trusted strategic advisor: Work alongside university leaders to help determine which projects should be undertaken why and when not just how.
§ Process documentation and reengineering: Document and reengineer existing processes based on benchmark

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Based on the strategic focus, the Head Digital projects will engage in the following:
Project Management Governance:
§ Establish the DPMO role and operating model (e.g., centralized or decentralized, areas of focus).
§ Set standards for project management capabilities, including certifications and qualifications for Project Managers, success measurement criteria, methodologies, tools to be used, etc.
§ Assist with the creation of a 'Centre of Excellence to nurture project management practitioners and share knowledge of industry best practices.
§ Monitor compliance with policies and standards.
Team Leadership:
§ Establish the DPMO organization structure, hiring and managing staffing requirements in line with project objectives.
§ Oversee the delegation of work to Project Managers, Program Managers, and Business Analysts.
§ Set annual performance targets for individuals and the team and conduct performance reviews.
Tracking & Monitoring:
§ Track and provide project status and audit reports.
§ Manage the risk, issue, and change resolution process, and work with other leaders to take corrective action as needed.
§ Oversee Project Managers for the delivery of projects/programs on time, within the scope, and on budget.
Project Prioritization
§ Provide executive leaders with the information needed to assess which proposals have the highest potential value, impact, and strategic alignment.
§ Interface with executives to define project priorities and implementation opportunities and challenges, and keep them up to date with project risks and opportunities
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)
Academia and support groups – Internal Customer, working with the faculty, Deans, registrar, students, IQAC, marketing, IT, and support functions to develop ideas concepts, and solutions to deliver organization strategy and commitments to stakeholders
External Partners – Work closely with all the partners to ensure they deliver as per the plan

Education and experience
§ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business required.
§ 10+ years' experience in IT enterprise program management
§ 10+ years' experience in process reengineering and documentation
§ Education Industry experience will be a plus
