Summary:
Responsible for developing creative solutions to challenging issues associated with the design, development, and sustaining engineering for our new and existing dialysis product portfolio. The successful candidate will possess solid “hands-on” technical abilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on meeting the needs of patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Defines design requirements and hardware specifications based on customer or user requirements.
Contributes to the development and documentation of electronic system architectures.
Subject matter expert with in-depth design knowledge of electronic hardware circuits like analog circuits, digital circuits, power supplies, etc.
Analyzes circuits using calculation and simulation methods to assess performance limits, effects of environmental and load stresses, and timing interfaces to ensure consistent performance in safety critical applications.
Completes deliverables related to design of systems and sub-systems of the overall electrical architecture.
Supervises/coordinates an engineer and/or technician on assigned work
Effectively applies advanced engineering principles with focus on design, experimental and computational methods to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input.
Develops, modifies, and approves electrical design documentation, specifications, and drawings.
Defines appropriate test methods to verify designs meet their performance requirements.
Transitions products to manufacturing and ensures robust products and manufacturing processes.
Develops and maintains an effective and corroborative working relationship with internal and external development partners.
Resolves competing constraints between interrelated functions (engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing, etc.) required to deliver the product to market.
Executes protocols and testing required to validate the safety and effectiveness of the design(s).
Leads the troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to electrical aspects of devices/ subsystems.
Creates and communicates design/test plans, tasks, deliverables, and status. Manages time and resources to meet committed schedule milestones.
Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective / Preventive action as needed. Mentor peers / Engineers in the stream of their expertise and on the processes.
Qualifications:
• A demonstrated track record in electromechanical hardware development, preferably medical devices, or other highly regulated products.
• Subject matter expert with in-depth design knowledge of electronic hardware circuits like analog circuits, digital circuits, power supplies, etc.
• Experience testing electronic devices to meet immunity and emissions requirements.
• Knowledge and experience using CAD systems for printed circuit board schematic design and layout (Altium Designer, preferred) and data acquisition software (LabVIEW).
• Knowledge of standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 61010, UL, ANSI, and ASTM
• Understanding of FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations, and standards is a plus.
• Proven experience in delivering healthcare devices to meet IEC basic safety, EMI-EMC standards and working closely with the regulatory bodies and affiliated labs is highly desirable.
• Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills.
Education and/or Experience:
Graduate or Post-Graduate in Electrical or Electronics or related Engineering. 15+ years related experience.
