Function Description:

The Global Logistics organization (GLOG) is a corporate function and consists of highly engaged employees. GLOG is procuring logistics services and is managing TE global, regional, and local transportation flows worldwide. We drive productivity across what we procure to support and realize business goals.
We achieve and sustain benchmark levels for functional costs to service and optimize agility, flexibility, and speed in services we provide.
 

Role Objective:

  • The main objectives of the Transportation Global Logistics INDIA are to manage domestic, regional, and global tenders, manage carrier KPI’s, establish internal/external productivity opportunities and continuously benchmark current TE rates against market.
  • In addition, he/she is the main point of contact on transportation to our business units (BU’s, internal customers) and to work with them to provide full support on improvement initiatives.
  • Purchases all transportation modes, i.e., ocean (FCL, LCL), air, road (LTL, FTL, milk runs), rail, small parcel and premium freight services (same day, OBC’s etc.). Focus of this role will be global air and ocean including international small pack and India domestic consignments to external customers.
  • Close cooperation with all BUs in region. 
     

Responsibilities:

•    Support and manage global RFQ’s and Domestic Road RFQ’s (incl. being part of a global selection team, negotiate competitive rates with external providers, complete rate analyses, carrier selection, report out and implementation).
•    Carrier management, with extra focus on On-Time Delivery, Carrier complaints and Productivity improvements.
•    Support TE sites and BU’s in reaching their goals and provide to them an extraordinary customer experience.
•    Provide innovative logistics solutions and support transportation projects of internal BU customers and with cross-functional teams to find and implement efficiencies and cost savings within Transportation.
•    Report savings in an internal reporting tool and ensure filling the pipeline with new solid initiatives.
•    Ensure compliance with non-disclosures and carrier contracts.
•    Ensure core and regional carrier compliance.
•    Escalation point for day-to-day logistics operations issues.
•    Assist in education of logistics procedures and requirements for sites and carriers.
•    Effectively communicate with employees, (internal) customers and carriers in person, by e-mail, phone to accomplish necessary objectives.
•    To provide flawless execution of the transportation services to our customer.
•    Preparations for SOP supporting plant requirements in Exports and Imports.
•    Supports BU for Project movements – Heavy Machinery with special handling requirements and multi BU Engineering center activities.
•    Interact regularly with GLOG regional leads. 
•    Working closely with our FAP (Freight Audit Payment) team to address any disputes and resolve.
•    Active part member of the supply chain projects related to distribution in region.
•    Close cooperation with all Internal & External customers and provide the valuated service.
•    Sharing best practices across regions.
 

Desired Candidate Profile:

•    Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (preferably logistics education)
•    Knowledge of English language enabling professional work
•    7+ years’ experience in managing complex logistics operations
•    Exceptional knowledge in international supply chain operations including Import/Export processes.
•    Strong leader and the ability to facilitate projects and people
•    Analytical skills including financial analysis
•    Demonstrated skills in performance management, communication & mentoring
•    Good, effectively & confident presentation skills 
•    Project Management Skills
•    Strong knowledge of TE business
•    System skills in SAP and other ERP systems
•    Working knowledge of import/export procedures and requirements 
•    Experience with the operation in the free zone, bonded warehouses
•    Knowledge of logistics industry and transportation operations
