Job Title: Manager, Global Journal Entries Operations & Capabilities Lead

ABOUT UNIOPS:


Unilever Operations (UniOps) is the global technology and operations engine of Unilever offering business services, technology, and enterprise solutions. UniOps serves over 190 locations and through a network of specialized service lines and partners delivers insights and innovations, user experiences and end-to-end seamless delivery making Unilever Purpose Led and Future Fit.


Background:


The role is responsible for the process design and technology of the end-to-end Journal Entries process under Record to Report function (RtR). Key responsibilities include:


Global Process Model (GPM)


  • Design, manage and support the use of R2R Global Process Model (GPM) across Unilever


  • Work with the Service delivery managers and Strategic Partners to ensure GPM compliance (incl. running the Annual GPM compliance cycle), identify non-compliance, mitigate the same and ensure that exceptions are addressed through process design and technology solutions.


  • Lead the Refresh of R2R GPM per agreed frequency.


  • Ensure Process Design and Delivery of major transformation programs (e.g. Puccini, BlackLine), initiatives led by global functional teams (e.g. GCAD, Treasury teams) and continuous improvement opportunities in the Journal Entries process area via:


    • Leading and actively participating in process improvement projects, ensuring the smooth integration of new business processes, acquisitions with organisational structure and culture.


    • Identify opportunities for the use of our existing assets to their full potential, maximising return on original investment.


  • Work closely with the Markets and PEC / OC teams, to ensure effective delivery of Legal / Fiscal initiatives across different markets.


Knowledge Management


  • Create and maintain R2R GPM process & control knowledge in Journal Entries area to be made available for the Commercial Experience organisation.


  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of emerging process and Digital technology trends in areas of interest to the organisation.


R2R Performance Management


  • Drive Performance Management for the end-to-end Journal Entries Process by


    • Determining, developing and monitoring monthly performance measures specific to the process.


    • Monitor and ensure process compliance - work with stakeholders within Unilever and strategic partners and the wider business to ensure that the Global process model is working as appropriate and best in class.


    • Assist with the definition and operation of effective financial control and decision-making processes.


    • Ensure robust controls are in place for security and access to systems and enabling technologies for capabilities which will be driven across the RtR process.


Team


  • Develop a high performing team of subject matter experts in Journal Entries areas. This Role will have direct line management of 1-2 team members and will also be required to demonstrate peer and superior leadership across project teams.


Key Accountabilities:


The role involves acting as the lead across these activities:


  • Govern the Journals Entries process model.


  • Ability to translate business / financial accounting requirement for IT design in SAP to drive compliance and improvement opportunities in the Journals Entries areas.


  • Support the Commercial Experience leads to execute transformational initiatives in the RtR process.


  • Partner with the Commercial Experience leads and GCAD team with opportunities for improvement in the end-to-end Journal Entries Global Process Model and Global financial control framework.


Skills / Experience / Qualifications:


  • A qualified Accountant or an equivalent Business Management degree in finance and accounts with 8-10 years of overall experience financial accounting.


  • Ability to network and influence senior stakeholders and a proven record in leading change projects.


  • Programme / Project management experience.


  • Excellent command of English including written, oral and presentation skills


  • Understanding and excellent application of Analytical tools. Power BI, Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint capability would be highly desirable.


  • Working knowledge on SAP design functionality on Record to report


  • Working knowledge and depth of experience in Record to Report operations, especially in the journal entry and forex process, including BlackLine Journals Automation


  • Ability to build and lead high performing teams working from different locations.


  • Strong knowledge of Unilever Financial Accounting Policies, R2R relevant GFCF controls.


  • Strong stakeholder management including senior leader engagement.
