About the department
The Centralised Monitoring Unit (CMU)- Bangalore, is a department within the Clinical Drug Development area. It is a perfect blend of skilled medical professionals (Medical reviewers) and technical programmers (Functional programmers, statistical monitors). Medical reviewers actively involved in Risk based medical monitoring in collaboration with the medical specialists from Denmark, with focus on ensuring overall patient safety and wellbeing of all clinical trial participants, by ensuring compliance to protocol and identifying potential clinically significant outliers that requires medical attention and medical data cleaning. The Functional Programmers develop operational visualisations in data visualization tools to support the trial teams on proactive centralised monitoring and Statistical Monitors perform detection of unusual data patterns, systematic errors and potential lack of compliance or fraud across trials. This unit also caters Medical Illustrators with a core task to support internal customers in Clinical Drug Development (CDD) through the development of engaging visual content for our clinical meetings.
The Position
As Associate Senior Medical Illustrator, an ideal candidate will be responsible for creation of medical communications content for clinical meetings. Responsible for creation/format of presentations posters, eLearning’s, infographic reports using other communication tools, like PowerPoint, Word, Excel documents, etc, used for internal and external medical communication based on collaboration with stakeholders. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within content design and content creation processes and tools. Responsible for maintaining a perspective on new technological solutions. Contribution and recommendation of new methods, materials, and equipment for use in medical illustration. Stay updated on training as required for the role as well as individual competency development. Build strong understanding of system and tools used.
The Key Responsibility of Senior Medical Illustrator:
- Create 3D models, animation and textures using computer graphics software. Use your creativity to enhance the end-user engagement of our materials. Create and design creative power point presentations with graphics, animations and interactive slides.
- Develop good understanding of relevant protocol and trial specific manuals/plans to ensure quality deliverables.
- Develop good therapeutic knowledge and general understanding of diseases and treatments as well as the latest medical developments.
- Responsible for contribution to or participation in good stakeholder collaboration. Effective communication and expectation setting with relevant stakeholder in the planning teams with regard to expected quality and timelines on delivery.
- Effectively follow review/approval process to obtain approvals and signatures for projects. Independent collaborative mindset required, proactively cross geographical distance to collaborate. Makes recommendations for content Specialists / Delivery Specialists/Meeting Planning. Team and then decide in collaboration with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- As a minimum a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or similar Important to have a strong graphical design background with a solid understanding of medical/scientific communication. Certification in MS-PPT and extensive knowledge on power point presentations creation is preferred. Scientific Illustrator knowledge will be added advantage
- 3+ years of graphical design experience required. Prerequisites to master the job are experience from the medical communications/ pharmaceutical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, clinical trial activities and medical illustration principles. 3D software experience desired.
- Scanning and digital photography experience helpful. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Experience in working on Computer graphics software such as Adobe Creative. Suite (Adobe CS6/CC) including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Quality mind-set and strong analytical skills. Part of the team and proactive planning. Great progress reporting skills at every stage of the design process. Methodical approach to archiving images and artwork.
