Position Title:Accountant (Balance Sheet support and analysis)

Job Location: Bangalore, KA-India

Job Roles and responsibilities

Job Roles & Responsibilities

• Support monthly and adhoc Balance Sheet activities, including but not limited to, reporting & analysis, forecast submissions, inventory refresh, FX submission, GL review & corrections
• Analyze trends for different asset and liability accounts based on historic data, previous year, annual business plan and forecast
• Ensure Balance Sheet items align with P&L and in line with leadership & team expectations
• Ensure to forecast and submit average Balance Sheet items (average total inventory, average total receivables, average total payables, average customer advances, average total net accountable assets)
• Understand the calculation and review metrics like inventory turns, days receivables outstanding, days payable outstanding etc.
• Work on activities related to fixed asset balances, capex forecast, receivables & payables forecast
• Reporting of metrics via scorecards to VP and senior VP

Inventory support and analysis:

• Support activities of inventory flow to the financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet)
• Practical working knowledge of standard cost vs actual cost for cost of goods sold
• Reporting related to total inventory, turns and month end/year end inventory changes for summarized inventory groups or inventory types
• Understand and assess impact of unrealized profit in inventory (on buying LE, selling LE and corporate consolidation) during intercompany sales transactions. This involves supporting complex calculation, treatment, analysis and reporting of the same

Process Transition & Improvement:

• Perform the tasks related to the transition of the projects in line with COE scope of work, timelines, business requirements and defined metrics/KPIs
• Participate in knowledge transfer sessions, define and own the documentation (instruction manuals and scorecards/trackers)
• Partner with multiple global stakeholders on day-to-day operations
• Identify and leverage on tools and technologies to transform processes
• Drive continuous improvement via simplification, standardization and automation
• Embed change management best practices

Top Candidates will preferably have:

• Knowledge of using tools such as Axiom, SAP Business Objects (BOBJ), SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), capex tools etc.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar businesses, products, suppliers, and consumers

Background/Experience/Skills & Capabilities

• Proven experience in reporting, forecasting and analysis related to Balance Sheet items, inventory and intercompany sales transactions
• Experience in procurement process
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data, trends and patterns
• Experience working in a global environment with multiple stakeholders to drive outcomes
• Experience in process transitions and transformations in a virtual environment
• Self-starter, works well independently and in a team, with excellent communication skills
• Showcased leadership skills, good judgement, and accountability in prior roles
• Advanced Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint presentations, Financial reporting software and tools
• CA with 5 -7+ years of progressive experience
