- Dishwashing and Cleaning:
- Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety standards.
- Hand wash delicate items as needed.
- Kitchen Organization:
- Assist in organizing and storing kitchen supplies, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in storage areas.
- Rotate and restock inventory as directed by the kitchen team.
- Waste Management:
- Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Monitor and manage waste disposal areas, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with sanitation regulations.
- Assist Kitchen Staff:
- Support kitchen staff by transporting food items, ingredients, and supplies between storage and work areas.
- Assist in basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables or preparing garnishes.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Report any malfunctioning kitchen equipment to the appropriate personnel.
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, and fryers.
- Cleaning of Dining Areas:
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and other dining area furniture.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies in dining areas.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operation.
- Communicate effectively with team members to address needs and concerns.
- Adherence to Health and Safety Standards:
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
- Shift Closing Duties:
- Assist in end-of-shift cleaning and closing procedures.
- Ensure all kitchen and dining areas are in readiness for the next shift.
- Previous experience in a similar steward or kitchen support role is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
