Hybrid Working

Structured hybrid role:
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

Introduction:

Lead all portfolio Management Office activities and implement best practice PMO processes. Provide standardised governance, support, and oversight to ensure that programmes are effectively managed. Facilitating agile adoption wherever possible, monitoring progress, risks, costs and benefits, and optimizing programme and project delivery.

Key Accountabilities
  • Define and employ project and Programme Management industry best-practice methodologies and tools
  • Create and employ suites of templated artefacts that newly initiated programmes and projects can utilise to reduce the toil and overhead of the programme and project team
  • Document the programme and project reporting operating models. Collate the required information at the agreed control points, ensuring all required regulatory, compliance, security and risk controls are met
  • Assist in prioritizing and managing the organization's programme and project portfolio, using data-driven metrics to highlight possible portfolio-wide challenges such as resource challenges, cost challenges or pan-organisation risks that impact multiple streams
  • Ensure alignment of programmes and projects with strategic objectives and setting supporting KPIs to measure against
  • Assess programme and project risks, dependencies, and issues, ensuring that the relevant risk mitigation and issue resolution strategies are being implemented
  • Constantly assess existing governance processes to identify opportunities to improve and streamline reducing organisational toil
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to project and program management, including charters, status reports, and lessons learned. Provide regular project status reports and updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Assist in budget management and financial tracking for projects and programs. Monitor project financials to ensure they align with the approved budgets

What will you be doing?

The role holder will support primarily the project management team on RTB and strategic initiatives, ensuring that all the projects are delivering the agreed benefits, on time, to budget and are of the highest quality.
Role holder will be responsible for:
  • Governance processes required by PMO (Financial, Tracking Governance, Documentation and Reporting) to ensure compliance to all relevant Policies and Standards
  • Programme and Portfolio Level Reporting including programme plan maintenance
  • Financial Management: accurate programme/project forecasting, tracking actuals against budget and compiling necessary financial reports
  • Resource Management: work with the programme/project team to ensure an accurate forecast of required resources is in place and support with onboarding
  • Change Control: Ensure any changes to the project or programme are made in line with governance
  • Risk and Issue management: support the programme/project identify, assess and monitor risks and issues, plan and implement appropriate responses for mitigation or resolution, including escalations
  • Outcomes and benefits management: support the programme / project identify, define, evaluate, plan, track and realise the outcomes and benefits of change initiatives

What we’re looking for:

Acts as a senior SME and enables change within a large portfolio, drives agile practices for the organisation, offers practical insights, and influences for incremental changes to drive efficiency, effectively socialises the portfolio view in the wider eco system, mentors less experienced Portfolio Management officers.

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and best practices
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective governance arrangements and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify risks and issues, and provide solutions.
  • Experienced of using risk management methodologies, tools and best practices.
  • Experience in developing and managing business cases and assurance processes.
  • Experience in managing project costs and resources tracking against budgets.
  • Ability to engage with the wider project delivery communities and share learning.
  • Minimum educational qualification required for this role. – Bachelors degree in technical field or similar experience.
  • Strong knowledge of project methodologies (Agile or waterfall)
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software including JIRA
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g. P3O)
  • Financial services industry experience
