Being the bearer of engineering best practices


The Director of Ground Transport Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of ground transportation operations within an organization. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of ground transportation activities. The Director of Ground Transport Operations leads a team and collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure seamless movement of goods and people.


Bridging gaps in processes and controls


As a Subject Matter Expert, you’ll contribute to the optimization of processes, tools and documentation. At the front of your mind at all times is completion and compliance ISO audit process. Keeping planned preventive maintenance programmes and service contracts in place and the work practices of contractors in check are also your mandate.


‘Safety first’ is your strapline and you’ll do this by maintaining safety procedures, including crisis management or business continuity and emergency procedures at all times. Getting our site teams on board our risk management and mitigation initiatives will also fall on your shoulders.


Bringing new technologies


Technology is our prime focus to deliver best in class services to our client in real estate which focuses around the ESG goals, employee experience and Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. The role is supposed to provide the leadership to explore and bring new technologies for our clients.


Ground Transport Management


  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance ground transportation operations in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of ground transport professionals, ensuring effective collaboration and driving high performance.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs in ground transportation operations, such as route optimization, equipment utilization, and driver scheduling. Fleet Management: Manage the organization's fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, inspections, and compliance with regulations.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with third-party transportation vendors, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards. Implement safety programs and trainings to minimize accidents and incidents.
  • Technology Integration: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in ground transportation operations. Identify opportunities to implement technology solutions such as GPS tracking, telematics, and digital platforms to optimize productivity and customer experience.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement measurement systems to track and report on the performance and effectiveness of ground transportation operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing operational data, identifying trends, and implementing process enhancements to achieve operational excellence.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders within the organization to ensure smooth coordination of transportation requirements and timely delivery of goods or services.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost control measures are in place

Performance Management


  • Initiates, reviews, and maintains a system of performance indicators for Ground Transport Services and monitors and compares performance with other relevant public and private sector organizations. 
  • Responsible for planning and implementing measurable performance standards for all work undertaken by the Ground Transport managers.
  • Manages and monitors current and future workload of the team to ensure that individuals are able to meet required timescales for individual projects and assignments.
  • Work closely with Quality Management Team to ensure business assurance and client assurance on all quality and compliance requirement

Team Management


  • Provides effective leadership: vision, direction and support to the team, including a visible and daily point of contact and escalation for team members and offers support, guidance and coaching as required. 
  • Prioritizes and allocates workload; takes appropriate action to ensure team performance including undertaking appraisals and regular one-to-one meetings with team members. 
  • Ensures that any directly managed staff are highly motivated and possess required skills and abilities by identifying development needs and providing coaching to develop the skills and knowledge of team members.
  • Risk & Resiliency
  • Managing financial institution clients are always focussed on risk and resiliency. We have utmost focus on operational / equipment resiliency to ensure zero business interruptions through timely risk identification and mitigation.

Client Management


  • Builds long-term, influential and strategic relationships with all client departments to understand their needs and act as a focal point for customer contact.
  • Communicates effectively at all levels and deals with complex issues and potentially contentious matters in a persuasive and sensitive manner. 
  • Manages colleagues in their dealings with clients; initiates procedures to improve service to and relationships.

Budget Management


Takes responsibility for relevant budgets up to a value of circa $ 18 Mn and ensures cost centers are monitored appropriately to manage within budget and identify cost pressures and savings opportunities without detriment to service delivery

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as logistics, supply chain management, transportation, or business administration or any equivalent Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: Significant experience in operations management is essential for this role. Candidates should have a proven track record of overseeing and improving operations, ideally within a similar industry or organization.However, Domain expertise is not mandatory.
  • Leadership skills: Strong leadership abilities are crucial for effectively managing a team of transportation professionals. Person should have experience in leading and motivating a diverse workforce, setting clear expectations, and fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Strategic mindset: The ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans is vital. Person should have experience in analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and developing comprehensive strategies to optimize transportation services.
  • Financial acumen: A solid understanding of budgeting and financial management is necessary, as person will be responsible for allocating and managing transportation budgets. Knowledge of financial analysis, cost control, and identifying cost-saving opportunities is mandatory.
  • Industry knowledge: Deep knowledge of ground transportation, logistics, and supply chain management is desired, however, a person having deep knowledge of operations management and leadership skill can apply for this role. Person should be familiar with industry trends, regulations, and best practices. They should also have an understanding of the technology and innovations driving the experience services.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for effectively collaborating with internal departments, external stakeholders, and transportation vendors. Person should be able to communicate clearly, build relationships, and negotiate contracts with confidence.
  • Problem-solving abilities: The ability to analyze complex transportation challenges and develop practical solutions is important. Person should possess strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to make well-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of the tools such as six sigma will be added advantage
  • Regulatory knowledge: Good understanding of local, state, and federal regulations relating to ground transportation is crucial. Person should be familiar with permits, licenses, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Technology proficiency: Proficiency in using transportation management systems, fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and other relevant technology platforms is beneficial. Directors should be comfortable leveraging technology to optimize transportation operations.(Desired not Mandatory)
