OB SUMMARY- Manager EH&S provides technical expertise in the areas of Johnson and Johnson worldwide
environmental health and safety standards, hazard assessment techniques, accident
investigations, and emergency response planning. - Manager EH&S will utilize different methods & assessment tools for the effective and efficient
safety culture at the site and support base business to deliver EH&S Goals & Objectives. He/she
will ensure effective risk management to prevent unacceptable failure modes and improve the
capability of EH&S systems. This person will support processes in Base Business and supervise,
lead, and mentor another cross-functional team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Work towards organizational objectives & goals. Ensure EH&S documents like EH&S manual,
policy, and objectives are reviewed at the appropriate frequency. - Fulfill statutory requirements pertaining to the environment. Review of consent conditions
- Comply with regulation and internal EH&S standards through effective training, inspection, and
technical support, the scope including Process safety management/ Industrial Safety/ contractor
safety etc. - Recognize emerging problems and proactively develop solutions.
- Review EPR compliance as part of Plastic Waste Management Rules.
- Coordination with EPR service provider to ensure the recycling process is as per requirements.
Monthly MIS to management on EPR progress - Carry out self-assessment of various EH&S chapters under the EH&S management system
involving respective chapter owners. - Publish management action plan with leaders & stockholders.
- Initiate training need identification & publish training calendar. Conduct & facilitate training
sessions on EH&S topics. - Perform safety inspections and internal assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory
regulations. - Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
- Act as Management Representative for ISO 14001 certification process.
- Organize & lead events (e.g., National safety week, Environment Day, Energy Week) to raise
awareness & sustain focus on EH&S management. - Conduct internal audits & arrange external environmental surveillance.
- File annual returns to MPCB & meet their compliance requirements.
- Periodically update EH&S dashboards.
- Participate in meetings with in-house safety committee, mutual aid response group, and EH&S
professionals from Ethicon worldwide & JNJ Companies in AP region.
Engage in community outreach projects. - Participate in state and national-level safety and other awards.
- Conduct management review as per documented procedures.
- EH&S SPOC for India Ethicon sites.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME), train and coach others.
- Observe and promote new compliance with regulatory requirements, company-established rules,
and procedures. Notify the immediate supervisor or appropriate authority of any violations or
deviations. - Ensure adherence/compliance to Records Management policies and procedures, as applicable.
- Education: Degree in Engineering/Science, Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety (Approved as per factories act.)
- Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of experience handling EH&S Management systems in an organization of repute
- Conversant with principles of industrial safety & occupational health.
- Intimate knowledge of the appropriate environmental legislation/ regulations of the country (India) and region (state) where the J&J company is located.
- Knowledge of impacts of industrial operations on the environment- air pollution, wastewater, hazardous & non-hazardous waste management, toxic chemical management, emergency response, and protection of ground and surface water.
- Knowledge of Pollution prevention and control methods, Environmental management systems including ISO 14001.
- Should be able to demonstrate competency in the management of EH&S audits including self-assessment and regulatory audits.
- Should be able to use statistical tools to analyze EH&S data.
