Job Summary:
As a Data Management Vice President / Associate within our team, you will demonstrate a strong understanding of data governance, data quality, data lineage and metaData Management concepts. You will engage with cross-functional teams to capture and validate lineage flows for critical reports and implement Data Management practices for major initiatives. This role provides an opportunity to leverage your skills in data profiling and testing rules, and to contribute to the resolution of data quality issues.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong understanding of data governance, data quality, data lineage and metaData Management concepts. Implement Data Management practices for major initiatives involving data on clients, products and business entities
- Discover and document data-lineage to trace the end-to-end data journey from point of creation to consumption
- Engage with cross-functional teams to capture and validate lineage flows for critical reports. Review documents such as functional specifications, technical design documents and data mapping specifications for lineage discovery and data analysis
- Establish contracts with upstream sources to ensure quality and accountability of data. Document lineage flows and relevant metadata in the data catalog, ensure lineage documentation is maintained. Chair governance meetings to communicate progress and outcome of lineage analysis to senior stakeholders through metrics and infographics
- Implement and support Data Quality (DQ) practices:
- Set up data profiling and testing rules leveraging DQ tools like Collibra/OWL, Informatica and other emerging tools. Leverage data lineage and data catalog documentation to trace data flows associated with issues
- Accelerate data quality issue level root cause analysis and resolution through effective program governance, process mapping and data deep-dives. Query data-marts/data-stores to extract knowledge and actionable insights to identify root cause of issues. Discuss and agree technical resolutions with technology teams to remediate DQ issues
- Leverage productivity tools such as Alteryx and visualization tools such as Tableau/Qlikview to analyze large dataset to draw inferences. Manage monthly retention & destruction governance workflows and reviews for applications
- Help prioritize, document, and facilitate any Local data governance or Privacy issues as they may arise. Support the adoption and implementation of the CIB’s Data Management Standards as needed.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
- Excellent understanding of Metadata and Data Management constructs (Data Lineage, Data Cataloguing, Data Quality). Proven experience implementing Data Quality Frameworks and DQ issue management
- Experience developing automated Data solutions for analysis and reporting. Self-motivated and proactive in identifying issues and recommending resolution to those issues
- Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills – including ability to anticipate, access and determine solution. Ability to communicate effectively at many levels of the organization including synthesizing key messages for senior management
- Ability to multi-task, work under tight deadlines, and quickly adjust to changing priorities. Aptitude to think outside the box and balance strategic objectives with the need to make interim tactical choices in order to sustain progress. Experience with Data Interrogation Tools: SQL, Alteryx, Qliksense, Tableau, SAS, Python& R
Preferred qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, qualification in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Management or a related field. Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in Data Management at a major financial institution.
