Overview
The Area Manager of Mortgage Loans plays a crucial role in overseeing the mortgage lending operations within the organization. They are responsible for managing a team of mortgage sales & deputy officers, ensuring compliance with lending regulations, and maintaining high-quality customer service in mortgage loan processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the mortgage loan process from application to closing
- Manage a team of mortgage Sales officers and support staff
- Develop and implement lending strategies to meet organizational goals
- Ensure compliance with state and federal mortgage lending regulations
- Review and analyze loan applications and supporting documentation
- Provide guidance on complex loan applications and exceptions
- Monitor loan portfolio for delinquencies and collections
- Collaborate with underwriters, appraisers, and legal teams
- Conduct financial analysis and risk assessment for mortgage loan applications
- Resolve escalated customer concerns and issues
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
- Prepare reports and metrics on mortgage loan performance
- Assist in the development and implementation of mortgage loan policies and procedures
- Participate in recruiting, training, and performance evaluation of staff
- Contribute to achieving company targets for loan volume and profitability
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in mortgage lending
- 3+ years of experience in mortgage lending
- Strong knowledge of mortgage regulations and compliance
- Proven experience in team management and leadership
- Excellent financial analysis and risk assessment skills
- Demonstrated success in loan underwriting and portfolio management
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and stakeholders
- Proficiency in mortgage lending software and systems
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Certification in Mortgage Loan Origination (MLO) is a plus
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
