Sr /supervisor Hip Vacuum Heat Treatment

Roles & Responsibilities:

In the role of Sr. / Supervisor, HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) & Vacuum Heat Treatment at PTCs aerospace casting BU, the individual will assume responsibility for the oversight and management of the HIP and Vacuum HT processes, with a focus on ensuring the production of high-quality aerospace components. This position demands background in metallurgy and Heat Treatment, coupled with a commitment to upholding rigorous quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensuring Product safety and prevent the FOD and Counterfeit parts in their concerned area.
2. Supervising and validating castings before loading them into the HIP chamber and record the necessary data.
3. Preparing program of HIP chamber as per method card based on customer requirements as per QAP.
4. Ensuring compliance with ISO 140001, ISO 45001 and AS9100:2018 documentation standards.
5. Managing shifts for workers involved in loading castings into the HIP chamber and managing the workforce responsible for loading operations.
6. Managing the HIP process as per Route card instructions and controlled cooling in an inert atmosphere. Set up the HIP chamber for running and troubleshoot any issue during the cycle without impacting the process.
7. Preparing process documents for each running batch, including cycle duration, programming details, and other relevant information and send these documents with every batch to customer support and QA team for review and approval,
8. Recording data in Synchro after completing the entire HIP or Heat Treatment process along with reviewing Heat Treatment and HIP reports before issuing them to customers.
9. Managing test samples from Heat Treatment sent to NABL labs for test certificate issuance and ensuring hardness requirements of castings are within the specified range as per method card,
10. Reviewing all the process documents of HT and HIP are according to AS9100:2018 & NADCAP standards as per AMS 2705F.
11. Investigating and promptly resolving any issues or deviations in the HIP and Heat Treatment operations, minimizing downtime, and adhering to production schedules.
12. Approving production documents or inspection sheets related to HIP and Heat Treatment operations, reporting quality issues through the initiation of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
13. Verifying that metallurgical and mechanical properties align with Test Guidelines and Acceptance criteria for castings produced.
14. Ensuring adherence to industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols relevant to melting operations.
15. Confirming that all equipment undergoes preventative maintenance as per the plan, to ensure fault-free operation.
16. Efficiently managing resources, such as manpower, raw materials, and energy consumption, to attain production targets and enhance cost-effectiveness.
17. Implementing and ensuring 5S in the HIP and Vacuum Heat Treatment facility, planning resources and materials accordingly.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education and Certifications:

Bachelors degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Experience:

• 2-7 years of proven experience in Vacuum Heat Treatment, HIP operation in foundries or casting manufacturing operations.
• Experience in the aerospace casting industry or precision castings industry will be highly preferred.Specialized preferably in Titanium Casting.

Technical / Functional Expertise & other competencies:

• Proficient in analyzing and interpreting technical data and specifications related to HIP and Vacuum Heat treatment operations of casting.
• In-depth knowledge of metallurgical principles, specifically related to aerospace casting alloys.
• Familiarity with SPC and related quality control processes and standards in precision casting operations.
• Well versed with the knowledge of all 7 QC tools.
• Expertise in handling HIP and Vacuum Heat Treatment equipment as per defined SOPs including thorough knowledge of operating parameters involved.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in HIP and Vacuum Heat treatment operations,
• Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance in manufacturing operations.
• Strong team management skills.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
