About the Team
This team uses modern engineering experience and best practices to drive improvements in existing systems and processes responsible for the availability and reliability of critical platform services and applications.
Job Summary:
As a Software Engineer you will apply your deep software engineering skills to help develop complex enterprise applications. You will collaborate with technical and product leadership across the enterprise to help recommend, build and manage the solution stack for your products. You will influence the technology and tooling selection, solution design and architectural direction. You will help establish best practices, coding standards and will enforce design patterns to build sustainable products. You will mentor your team members and will help eliminate knowledge silos. You will learn different technologies, acquire skills and apply your knowledge to build exciting products that delight our customers and associates.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Business, Engineering, and Product teams to design, build, and deploy highly available and scalable solutions on the Google Cloud platform.
Efforts to automate deployment, monitoring, and management processes.
Solid scripting skills (Python/Kotlin/Bash/Go/etc.).
Build/integrate new software, tools and analytics that drive improvements to the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our cloud services products and services
Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to proactively identify and address performance issues and outages.
Develop and refine alerting systems to proactively identify and diagnose potential issues before they impact users.
Conduct thorough root cause analysis of incidents and develop strategies to prevent recurrence, continually enhancing the reliability of Microservices.
Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring data integrity and system availability in case of failures.
Optimize GCP resources for cost-effectiveness, monitoring and managing resource consumption, and providing recommendations for efficient resource utilization.
Stay current with GCP cloud advancements, trends, and best practices, integrating relevant technologies to enhance SRE processes.
Participate in on-call rotation for critical platform issues
Years of Experience:
2 to 5 years of experience
Education Qualification & Certifications
Bachelor's/master’s degree in computer science, CIS, or related field
Skill Set Required
Must have Skills.
3-5 years of experience as an SRE, DevOps, or TechOps Engineer.
3 years of tools development or automation using Python, JavaScript, Kotlin, Java, or Go.
2-3 years of containerization and orchestration experience.
Solid experience in managing production environments in a public cloud, GCP preferred.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana.
Fast learner of technology and willing to experiment to find the best solutions.
Secondary Skills (desired)
Grafana, Akamai, Splunk
Spinnaker, Istio, Kubernetes, Docker on GCP
Understanding of platform level concerns, such as configuration management, network request routing, blue/green or canary deployments
Experience working in micro services Architecture.
Experience in mainstream languages - JAVA, shell and python.
Broad knowledge of application servers and web servers, networks, firewalls, switches, load balancers
