Your Role and Responsibilities
A Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM) typically holds a significant leadership role within a technical organization, often in industries such as technology, engineering, or research. Their job description may vary depending on the specific company and industry, but generally, it includes the following responsibilities and qualifications:

Responsibilities:


  • STSM and Chief Cloud Architect is a key leader in the Pricing sub-domain responsible for shaping our cloud efforts including migration, refactoring, cost optimization, and orchestration.
  • Develop architectures for highly capable, scalable, available, and elastic solutions that implement industry best practices using cloud services.
  • Develop roadmaps to implement enterprise capabilities to support standardized/reusable patterns for cloud and cloud integration.
  • Responsible for managing the cloud computing architecture, especially as cloud technologies grow increasingly complex.
  • Cloud computing architecture encompasses everything involved with cloud computing, including the front-end platforms, servers, storage, delivery, and networks required to manage cloud storage.
  • Navigate Pricing’s complex cloud environments, lead teams, develop and implement cloud strategies, and ensure our cloud systems stay up to date and run smoothly.
  • More specifically this resource will help with: Solving complex technical problems, communicate ideas and plans to a diverse set of colleagues, and negotiate technical solutions across teams.
  • Seamlessly shift between multiple concurrent projects. Development of guidance around cloud platform best practices and standards.
  • Stay current on innovations within public/private cloud technologies with the aptitude to pick them up quickly. Multi-Cloud and Hybrid-Cloud implementations.
  • Establish automation for the creation and destruction of on-demand development and testing environments.
  • A solid understanding of Cloud Economics. Actively works on prototyping of cloud services. Work agnostically with multiple cloud providers and hybrid architecture Act as an evangelist for the Global Cloud Strategy
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers or researchers.
  • Lead complex technical projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Drive innovation within the organization by identifying new technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement technical solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Mentor junior Staff Members, providing technical guidance and career development support.
  • Solve complex technical problems, applying deep expertise and creativity to find effective solutions.
  • Ensure the quality and reliability of technical deliverables through thorough testing and review processes.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project updates effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans and technical roadmaps for the organization.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in the field, continuously enhancing technical skills and knowledge.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise


  • Relevant years of relevant work experience in a technical role, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
  • Extensive experience and expertise in a specific technical domain relevant to the organization (e.g., software development, hardware design, data science, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of technical professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor complex technical projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successfully resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align technical initiatives with broader business objectives and long-term goals.
  • Typically, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics. A Ph.D. may be required for certain specialized roles.
  • Overall, a Senior Technical Staff Member plays a crucial role in driving technical excellence, innovation, and business success within an organization.
