The Opportunity
As a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Nutanix, you will have the exciting opportunity to own the entire development, deployment, and maintenance process for Nutanix Central. Your role is crucial in ensuring the uptime of this platform and building highly scalable systems. With your expert knowledge in asynchronous messaging systems and transport protocols, you will contribute to Nutanix's mission of providing a seamless experience in managing all Nutanix products through a single management plane. Engineering / R&D at Nutanix
The Nutanix Central team is a small group of around twenty people, primarily based in Bengaluru, with a smaller team in Belgrade and San Jose. This team is responsible for a strategic initiative called Nutanix Central, launched in May 2023 at the .NEXT conference. Joining this team means joining an innovative project that sets Nutanix apart in the market.
Your Role
Use React, Redux, or Lit to develop frontend components for our platform.
Utilize Go, Python, or Java to create highly scalable and resilient backend systems.
Implement message queues and tracing systems to enhance the efficiency of our software.
Optimize database systems to improve performance and reliability.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, support and serviceability engineers to ensure project success.
Demonstrate peer leadership by fostering collaboration and providing technical mentorship.
Achieve first-year objectives by working closely with a cross-functional team to build a robust platform for hosting various SaaS services within Nutanix.
What You Will Bring
Possess in-depth knowledge of Javascript and its ecosystem, including experience with React, Redux, D3 or other modern frontend frameworks and Single Page Applications using Javascript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Proficiency in server-side programming languages, such as C , Go, Python, or Java, and database systems.
Show familiarity with operating systems internals (Linux preferred), concepts of distributed data management, web-scale systems, and a proven track record of building clustered, high-performance, fault-tolerant, distributed applications or systems software.
Strong understanding of concurrency patterns, multi threading concepts, and debugging techniques.
Working experience with storage, networking, virtualization(Nutanix, VMWare, KVM), Kubernetes, and/or cloud technologies(AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Experience with database(SQL, & NoSQL) messaging technologies(NATS, Kafka, or Pulsar)
Experience working in a high growth multinational company environment.
Must hold a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
7-10 years of experience in designing and developing applications is required.
Technologies to be used include Go, NATS, React, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra.

I joined Nutanix in 2016 as a founding Member of the Self Service and Nutanix Central team within Nutanix. Our team joined Nutanix as one of its very first acquisitions and has since grown into a critical Product and Platform organization of its own. I have been very fortunate to participate in many firsts for the company during my tenure at Nutanix and it continues to be so even now. In my career, I have worked on cloud-scale applications and architected some of them. I am also an early adopter of Go and have been using it since 2013. I enjoy cooking one-pot meals for my family or playing couch co-op games with them in my free time. Im also interested in trying different coffees and hacking my coffee machine for the taste nuances.
How we work
We work in a hybrid style, letting everyone in the team decide on their preferred work location. We are trying to minimize the number of meetings and nurture the culture of writing and sharing documents, which helped us achieve a more flexible schedule and transparent knowledge sharing. The team is distributed across Bangalore - India, Belgrade - Serbia, and San Jose - California, with incredible diversity in cultural and technical backgrounds.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $140,800 and USD $282,000 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
