Senior Program Officer - Communications

Position overview

The organization is looking for a Senior Communications Officer to support the organization programs in India. As a part of the cross-cutting Communications team, the selected person will play a crucial role in developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance the organization's visibility, promote its initiatives, and engage stakeholders. You will work closely with the local and global teams to ensure consistent and impactful communication that aligns with the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation and delivery of the annual communications and outreach calendar and communications protocols for The organization programs in India
• Drive communications for RPLC, a program managed by the organization)

Content Development:

• Create compelling and engaging content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media updates.
• Develop multimedia content such as short videos, infographics, and presentations to effectively communicate The organization's impact and initiatives.

Digital and Social Media Management:

• Develop and manage The organization India's social media account to ensure consistent and impactful messaging, along with the LinkedIn account of RPLC
• Manage content, design and dissemination of Newsletter for the organization programs in India

Event Coordination:

• Support and coordinate events, workshops, and seminars to showcase the organization's work and engage with key stakeholders.

Multistakeholder Program Communications:

• Facilitate communication between different stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, NGOs, and local communities, to foster understanding and cooperation.
• Collaborate with project teams to identify and highlight key milestones, challenges, and impacts of multistakeholder initiatives.
• Empanelment and Management of pre and post assignment deliverables with external vendors – such as budget negotiations, contracting, timelines, quality expectations and assessment post-delivery.

The organization is looking for an organized, active, self-motivated, team player with leadership skills and a strong interest in supply chain sustainability and domestic responsible sourcing. You are both analytical, structured, business minded and practical; able to work, organize and prioritize work, multitask, and meet strict timelines independently and learn fast. Working in a results-oriented, flexible, and hands-on manner, you execute given projects quickly and thoroughly, maintaining a good overview whilst providing coaching on delegated tasks.

What you bring

• 4+ years of work experience
• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field Proven and hands-on experience in managing digital communications, including social media and online newsletters.
• Strong track record and background in communication/public relation, preferably in the non-profit sectors relevant to forest conservation, agriculture and rural development, land-use and natural resources management, supply chains.
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Based in or open to relocate to/near Gurgaon, India.
• Demonstrated ability in effective teamwork in a dynamic, agile environment.
• Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
• Extremely proactive, entrepreneurial, with a strong eye for detail.
• Willingness to travel often to the field areas (max once a month, 2-3 day visits)
• Experience in managing communications budgets.
