Job description

The Position:


The position is aimed at supporting the SRH programmes of the Country Office through technical assistance for knowledge management, development of policy briefs, resource and communication material, global best practices. Support resource mobilization, research and innovations, evidence generation on emerging RH issues, and capacity building initiatives that are relevant to UNFPA’s Country Programme.

Job Purpose:


UNFPA has been a partner of the Government of India (GoI) since 1974 and is now implementing its 10th five-year (2023 - 2027) Country Programme. The Country Programme leverages large-scale government programmes to strengthen maternal health and family planning interventions and promote comprehensive SRH services through advocacy, technical assistance, capacity building and system strengthening approaches through national initiatives and support to State governments in its focus states.   Furthermore, UNFPA is a co-convener of the FP 2030 partnership in the country. It is supporting the implementation of the FP 2030 roadmap and action plan at the national level and UNFPA focused states.


You will report to the Programmes and Technical Support Lead, UNFPA, and will work in close collaboration with the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights unit.


You would be responsible for: 


Under the direct technical guidance of the Programme  & Technical Support Lead, in the Country Office,


  • Prepare technical briefs and policy papers on maternal health, Family Planning, and other emerging Reproductive Health issues for advocacy and evidence-building.
  • Develop project proposals and concept notes and assist the Country Office in resource mobilization for SRHR. 
  • Review and provide substantive inputs to documents, guidelines, and training materials on SRH to align with international guidelines.
  • Assist in advancing humanitarian/emergency preparedness and response initiatives of UNFPA India Country including development of resource and training materials on SRH in humanitarian settings.
  • Support in initiatives such as research, innovations, development of tech-based solutions for FP and MH and other emerging issues such as climate change. 
  • Facilitate in knowledge management by supporting documentation of best practices and interventions related to UNFPA’s work in sexual and reproductive health and rights. 
  • Assist in newer initiatives such as in the areas of climate change, addressing RH morbidities and cancers of reproductive organs.
  • Conduct field visits to UNFPA focus states, extend need based technical inputs to State offices and assist in capacity building initiatives.
  • Undertake other tasks as may be assigned from time to time based on emerging needs.

Qualifications and Experience 


Education: 


Masters in public health/medical degree/social sciences 


Knowledge and experience: 


  • At least 10 years of professional experience in reproductive health, preferably in programme management. 
  • Experience of working on SRHR programs.
  • Good writing skills with experience of developing proposals, policy briefs/technical papers and advocacy notes.

Competency:


  • Multi-tasking, handling various responsibilities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Good negotiation and facilitation skills including the ability to work in diverse settings.

Language: 


  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is required and working knowledge of Hindi.
