About you

You should have a Postgraduate degree in Commerce/Supply chain management or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, supply chain management or related field with minimum of 5 years of experience in a public/private sector Procurement and Contracting role. You should have at least 3 years of working experience in the development sector with knowledge of Procurement and Contracting principles and best practices in an NGO or international development setting.

Certification from bodies like CIPS would be an advantage.


About the role

The Procurement and Contracting Officer will be overall responsible for procurement & contracting function within the country, ensuring strict compliance to organizational policies and procedures. He/She shall collaborate closely with Regional team and Country Program team to understand the procurement needs and strategies the procurement ensuring stewardship of resources and high quality service approach to achieve the optimal value for money in all transactions.

In this role you will be responsible to:


  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, ensuring favorable terms for the organization and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Lead in the preparation contractual documents in accordance with NI Contracting and Procurement Policy and NI process check list
  • Support Country Program staff in developing contract and procurement plans (grants, equipment, services, supplies, etc), monitor and provide quarterly update on implementation progress.
  • Ensures compliance with established NI policies for the release and approval for signature of legal documents. (partner agreements, consultancy contracts, consulting agreements, travel letters, extension and supplement/amendment requests etc.)
  • Works with other team members to resolve temporary or cyclical workload issues when they arise.
  • Participates in the development or enhancement, testing and evaluation of corporate systems and procedures to improve their effectiveness and relevance to service needs.
