Job Summary: As an Operation Theatre Technician or Operation Theatre Assistant, you will play a vital role in the functioning of the operation theatre and support the surgical team during various medical procedures. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the theatre and assisting healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing Operation Theatre: Set up and prepare the operation theatre before surgeries, ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and properly sterilized.
Sterilization and Infection Control: Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and sterilization procedures for all surgical instruments and equipment.
Assisting Surgeons: Assist surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff during surgeries by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies, as requested.
Patient Preparation: Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
Equipment Management: Monitor and maintain all surgical equipment, including lights, anaesthesia machines, and monitors, troubleshooting any issues promptly.
Handling Surgical Specimens: Properly collect, label, and transport surgical specimens to the designated laboratory for analysis.
Post-surgery Cleanup: Assist in cleaning and restocking the operation theatre after surgeries, ensuring it is ready for the next procedure.
Emergency Preparedness: Be familiar with emergency procedures and equipment in the operation theatre, ready to respond effectively in case of any complications.
Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with the surgical team, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination during surgeries.
Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, equipment usage, and patient care in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as an Operation Theatre Technician or Operation Theatre Assistant is typically required.
- Previous experience working in an operation theatre or surgical setting is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols.
- Understanding of surgical procedures and the roles of various team members in the operation theatre.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused during high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with the surgical team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods and handle various tasks in the operation theatre.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain a professional demeanour in the operation theatre environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
- Willingness to adapt to the evolving needs and protocols of the operation theatre.

· Candidate with experience will be given a hike from their las drawn salary.
