Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary: The VMC & HMC Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) and Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC). The operator must have a strong understanding of machining processes and be capable of operating the machines efficiently and safely. They will also be responsible for monitoring the quality of the machined parts and making necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) and Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC) according to specifications and work instructions.
• Load and unload workpieces into the machines using proper lifting equipment and techniques.
• Monitor the machining process to ensure that parts are being produced within specified tolerances and make necessary adjustments as required.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines, including checking coolant levels, changing tooling, and inspecting machine components.
• Identify and report any machine malfunctions or abnormalities to the maintenance team for prompt resolution.
• Maintain accurate records of production activities, including part counts, cycle times, and any issues encountered.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with the production team to meet production schedules and deadlines.
• Assist in the training and development of junior operators, as needed.

• Machine uptime and availability.
• Production output and efficiency.
• Quality of machined parts.
• Adherence to production schedules and deadlines.
• Compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
• Timely reporting of machine malfunctions or abnormalities.
• Record-keeping accuracy and completeness.

Ideal Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical certification or vocational training in machining or related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a VMC and HMC operator, with a strong understanding of machining processes.
• Familiarity with CNC programming and G-code is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of tooling selection and application.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments, such as calipers and micrometers.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining issues.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent/Diploma - Mechanical

Experience:

• Proven experience (3 to 8 years) in CNC operations, preferably Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

Technical / Functional Expertise & other competencies:

• Proficiency in operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) and Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC).
• Knowledge of CNC programming and G-code.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with different types of tooling and their applications.
• Understanding of machining processes and techniques.
• Competence in using precision measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and precision in executing tasks.
