Job Summary:


A Senior Network Operations Engineer plays a critical role in managing and maintaining an organization's network infrastructure. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the network, troubleshooting issues, implementing improvements, and ensuring the network's reliability, security, and performance.


The Senior Network Operations Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our organization's network infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the network operates efficiently, securely, and with high availability. The Senior Network Operations Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve network-related issues and implements best practices for network management.


Key Responsibilities:


Network Design and Planning


  • Design, configure, and implement network solutions to meet the organization's requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects to plan for network expansion, upgrades, and enhancements.

Network Maintenance and Support


  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolution.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as firmware updates, patching, and system backups.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard the network from threats and vulnerabilities.

Network Optimization


  • Identify areas for network performance improvement and implement optimization strategies.
  • Analyse network traffic patterns and adjust configurations to enhance efficiency.

Capacity Planning


  • Evaluate network capacity requirements and plan for scalability.
  • Forecast and procure necessary hardware and software resources.

Documentation


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams and configurations.
  • Create and update network policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Collaboration and Communication:


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and operations, to ensure seamless network operation.
  • Communicate technical information and network status to non-technical stakeholders.

Incident Response


  • Respond to network-related incidents and participate in the resolution process.
  • Implement disaster recovery plans for network failures.

Vendor Management


  • Work with vendors and service providers in supporting and maintaining network infrastructure.

Shift and On-Call


  • Work in rostered shift hours. Be available On-Call as per On-Call roster.
  • Work on planned / unplanned activities during off-shift hours including on weekends.

Experience & Essential Technical Requirements:


  • Minimum 10+ years of industry experience in Network Operations involving LAN, WAN and Wireless technologies.
  • Experience working in 1000+ devices network infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience in Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in Cisco ASR and ISR routing platforms.
  • 3+ Years of experience in Wireless network technologies.
  • In depth knowledge and experience on Cisco ISO and to include routing (OSPF & BGP), switching and QoS.
  • CCNP certification

Good to have:


  • Hands-on experience on Software Defined Wide Area Network (SDWAN) on any of the platforms like Viptela /VeloCloud/ Riverbed SteelConnect is an added advantage.
  • Experience in using monitoring tools like Thousand Eyes, Solarwinds
  • Experience in working Cisco DNAC, Cisco ISE and Microsoft NPS
  • ITIL Foundation certification

Educational Qualifications:


  • Diploma or Degree in any field and passed out in 1st class (>60% or > GPA 7).
