The Opportunity:

• The Markets & Securities Services (MSS) Non-Financial Risk (NFR) team is a global function that sits within the Markets & Securities Services area within Global Banking & Markets. The NFR team helps manage and control non-financial risks in the business, including but not limited to assurance, information control, conduct and product lifecycle risk.
• The eTrading NFR team also monitors compliance to the eTrading FIM and guidelines and provides assurance that MSS staff are conforming to the policies. The eTrading team helps manage and control non-financial and new risks in the business, including but not limited to operational, conduct and product lifecycle risk. An overarching purpose is to protect HSBC, its People, Clients and Financial Markets by helping safeguarding the delivery of fair outcomes to our customers and avoiding disruption of the orderly and transparent operation of Financial Markets.
• This role is: Non-Financial Risk Analyst. A high-level overview of the role:
• This role will initially work within the Risk Specialist – eTrading and Model Risk pillar with opportunities to work across the whole structure as a generalist assisting the specialised areas offering analytical support as the role expands.

What you’ll do:

Support the Electronic Trading and Model Risk in MSS NFR Lead with the following responsibilities:

• Work closely with eTrading Front Office, Technology and infrastructure staff to ensure controls are designed, implemented and operated on a consistent basis across asset classes to address risks associated with Electronic Trading and Model Risk activities.
• Assist the lead with translating associated regulation (e.g. MiFID II, FINRA, HKMA) and translate requirements into plain English, and work with each asset class to ensure these are understood and implemented.
• Assist pack creation for the cross asset governance of Electronic Trading Oversight Forum and other centrally managed projects relating to eTrading in MSS.
• Assist implementation of policies and procedures for eTrading and model risk ensuring they are appropriate and up to date with input from Front Office, Technology and second line of defence teams.
• Assist with the Operational Risk and Control Assessments for the MSS electronic trading businesses and ensure guidance is consistently applied across MSS assessments.
• Ensure documents, data and associated MI is collated to support the continuous monitoring of the adequacy of the controls in place to mitigate risks associated with eTrading.
• Ensure assessment, design and implementation activities engage an appropriate and complete set of stakeholders across relevant MSS product groups and supporting infrastructure functions.
• Assist in identifying, assesses and management of risks and issues that arise as the control framework develops and on an ongoing basis to ensure they are monitored and managed appropriately including understanding the impact to the business.
• Participate in process improvement work and ad hoc projects.
• Maintain issues log and track progress in a timely manner.
• Ability to suggest and propose changes to processes; driving change and participating in system enhancements.
• Actively participate in team meetings. Bringing solutions / suggestions / recommendations to the table.
