Job Description
Linux System Administrator
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining, securing, and optimizing our Linux-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the Linux operating system, file system hierarchy, and extensive experience in automating tasks through scripting. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong troubleshooting skills and a deep understanding of Linux server security practices.
Responsibilities:
1. System Configuration and Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Implement and manage storage solutions, including LVM, RAID configurations, and file system optimizations.
- Automate routine tasks and processes using shell scripts to enhance operational efficiency.
2. Security Management:
- Implement and enforce Linux server security practices, including regular updates, firewall configurations, and access controls.
- Monitor system logs for suspicious activities and implement intrusion detection and prevention systems.
- Conduct regular security audits and implement necessary updates to safeguard against potential vulnerabilities.
3. Troubleshooting and Support:
- Diagnose and resolve common Linux-related issues by analyzing log files, using diagnostic commands, and monitoring system resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex technical problems and provide timely support.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to Linux system administration.
4. High-Availability Setup:
- Plan, design, and implement high-availability Linux server architectures with redundant components.
- Configure cluster management software, shared storage, load balancing, and failover rules.
- Conduct thorough testing of failover scenarios to ensure the reliability of the high-availability setup.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator with a strong understanding of the Linux file system hierarchy.
- Proficient in scripting languages, such as Bash, for automating tasks and processes.
- Solid knowledge of Linux server security practices, including firewall configurations and intrusion detection.
- Experience in troubleshooting common Linux issues and providing effective solutions.
- Familiarity with high-availability setups, cluster management, and storage optimization.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Nice to Have:
- Certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with networking concepts, including VLANs, subnetting, and TCP/IP protocols.
