JOB TITLE: Regulatory Compliance Counsel

CORE and Global Services (CGS) is a group of legal professionals working and supporting different legal areas such as Compliance, Regulatory Offerings, Ethics, Procurement, Corporate Matters and the Services Areas aligned with the new offerings and technologies such as Strategy & Consulting, Interactive, Technology, Security and Operations.
Regulatory Compliance Role Summary – To support the Regulatory Compliance Team in driving various Regulatory Compliance processes like reviewing deals to ensure Accenture’s compliance with regulations and maintaining licenses for Accenture’s services. To handle responsibilities related to people and process management as required for the team. The Regulatory Compliance Counsel is responsible for regulatory compliance support globally: providing regulatory guidance at deal, offerings development and Ventures & Acquisitions levels, designing and implementing compliance programs, enabling other legal teams (Contracting, Contract Management and Geographic Compliance & Corporate teams) working at local level, on regulatory topics within his/her scope of expertise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Generic Responsibilities
- Understand the CORE areas
- Understand relevant company policies
- Develop subject-matter expertise in the concerned support area
- Act as a POC for support area
- Understand and suggest process improvements in the support area
- Support LTO/CIO in development of new tool or enhancement of existing ones
- Assist team in drafting checklists and process documents
- Directly liaison with internal and external stakeholders on various issues
- Manage SharePoint and communication records
- Identify and support any specific trainings for the team
- Support implementation of new initiatives in CORE support area or within Legal/GLN
- Build credible and effective relationships with onshore counsels and within GLN team
- Support recruitment efforts for the team
- Supervise resources, and assist GLN Team Lead in people management, as required
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior members of the team
- Provide individuals with positive and developmental feedback
- Try to ‘give back’ to GLN/Legal.
Specific Responsibilities aligned to Role
- Manage and supervise allocation of work and delegation of tasks to team, per bandwidth and requirement
- Quality Analysis of Regulatory Reviews prepared by team Members
- Assist Team Lead in coordination activities, managing workload and planning organizational adjustments in the Team
- Deliver global training and help build key relationships with Business and internal teams and global stakeholders
- Help develop team members in higher complexity Reviews by knowledge transfer and training
- Independently conduct Regulatory Reviews for various Offerings under the scope of the team.
- Manage medium to high complexity regulatory reviews.
- Recognize issues and provide timely escalation to Team Leads, in-country Counsels, or appropriate stakeholders
- Direct communication with business teams & internal stakeholders regarding specific regulatory matters.
- Act as escalation point for issues related to Regulatory Reviews and other similar processes
- Interact with external counsel, manage ongoing research requests.
- Understand whether licenses are needed, determine how to obtain them, and acquire them for Accenture’s Offerings.
- Conduct and coordinate internal research projects, ensuring outcomes are delivered in agreed upon format.
- Participate in/lead strategic initiatives.
- Prepare presentations, email templates and newsletters.
- Elaborate, compare and refresh guidance documents.
Certifications and Membership:
- Compliance related global professional certification considered a plus
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience at law firm or as in-house counsel and/or in legal outsourcing, as an attorney providing legal and regulatory advice, including experience as a transactional attorney
- Good knowledge of relevant regulations and market trends
- Management experience in a corporate legal department or Law Firm
- Experience in driving complex multi-national projects and deals
- Knowledge in designing/implementing compliance programs
- Management of outside counsels on complex multi-national transactions
Work Requirements:
- Travel may be required
- Fluency in English (and other language, depending on geography supported) with strong oral and written communication skills
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Good experience at law firm and/or as in-house counsel with experience in the regulatory and compliance areas.
- Good experience in generic/legal research and reporting, including due diligence
- Demonstrate promptness, accuracy and consistency with the activities supported
- Demonstrate autonomy, take ownership, and drive tasks to closure
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, sound judgement, organized, and adaptable
- Strong time management, prioritization, and analytical skills
- Able to work with internal and external teams to assist with day-to-day support and to understand delivery requirements
- Basic understanding of Accenture offerings and function specific services performed
- Good understanding of commercial agreements, legal and compliance principles
- Understand general basic corporate business practices and contracting regulations
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Comfortable with technology and has experience in the use of tools & databases.
- Ability to work under pressure, with exposure to senior leadership
- Effectively manage priorities and stakeholder expectations
- Build trust-based relationships by delivering on commitments
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and an ability to provide appropriate advice
- Able to effectively influence senior leadership
