About the team:

The Rubrik Legal Team is responsible for managing global commercial contracts, regulatory affairs, IP, data privacy and employment matters. This position is for an experienced, business-oriented, technology contract attorney with a passion for a well-rounded generalist role to support the India legal function.
Where you can make an impact:

  • Use your experience with software-as-a-service offerings and related matters to structure, negotiate and close transactions (e.g. SaaS and software licensing agreements, support and professional agreements, partner and alliance agreements)
  • Use sound judgment in assessing non standard legal positions
  • Find creative solutions to drive deal negotiations to successful completion while creating and maintaining a positive experience for both internal and external customers
  • Stay current and advise on applicable laws and regulations including privacy and security, compliance, and industry-specific requirements
  • Use effective time management and strong communication skills to define and meet internal and external demands in a high volume, revenue-driven sales environment
  • Work with product counsel and related teams to assess new products and programs
  • Exercise project management, prioritization and organizational skills to effectively manage work streams involving multiple stakeholders
  • Develop and implement form agreements, playbooks, and best practices within the team and deliver trainings internally and externally to support the legal function at Rubrik
  • Provide and set strategic direction, sound balanced legal advice on a wide range of corporate commercial matters. Accountability for corporate compliance and legal issues. Oversight for various legal regulatory and government affairs related matters.
  • Advise on employment related issues e.g. termination, severance, mutual separation, outsourcing arrangements, employment templates.
  • Coordinate and work with the regional APAC legal team and corporate legal groups in the global legal function such as the IP COE, Employment COE, Data Privacy COE
  • Work with APAC Compliance & Ethics Leader to drive compliance in India including driving compliance training and initiatives in India.

Ideal background:

  • Licensed Attorney and Law Degree from a recognized university in India
  • 7-9 years of commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience at a law firm or in-house, with a minimum of 3 years of experience negotiating cloud-based service offerings with enterprise businesses
  • Independent, motivated and enthusiastic contributor with excellent business judgment
  • Strong work ethic and professionalism required
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a diverse multicultural team
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to discuss issues across functions with audiences from various backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
