About the role
The Lead Engineer for Surface Mining Segment will be responsible for leading the Technical Services team to deliver & support growth within the surface coal, iron ore, and opencut metal mining segment.
What you will be doing
- Adherence to Orica charter values and maintaining organizational safety standards within team.
- Responsible for managing a team of Technical Services engineers in the region and ensuring that all technical deliveries for Orica's products, digital solutions, and services are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
- Lead growth of both Orica's differentiated products and digital solutions verticals for surface coal, iron ore, and opencut metal mining segments by understanding & developing customer value propositions, identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with customers, and staying up-to-date with industry trends and technology advancements.
- Manage Technical Services resources and ensure that they are properly allocated to projects
- Monitor project timelines and safety standards to ensure that all projects for surface mining segment are delivered successfully
- Develop and implement technical service workflows and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and safety across all projects related to Orica's products, digital solutions, and services in the segment
- Work closely with the territory team to identify and pursue new business opportunities in both Orica's products and digital solutions verticals for the segment
- Build strong relationships with surface coal, iron ore, and opencut metal mining customers and manage customer expectations related to safety, Orica's products and solutions
- Provide regular reports on project progress to the Technical Services Leader and India Management Team
- Conduct regular safety reviews and provide coaching and feedback to team members related to safety, Orica's products, and solutions
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and Orica’s global SMEs for introduction of differentiated product and services offering in the segment and for delivery of strategic business initiatives in the region
What you will bring
Critical Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in the mining industry.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, including drilling and blasting, mine planning, and other operations in the mines.
- Experience in leading technical teams and managing projects.
- Strong safety record and a demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to travel extensively to remote sites.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Advanced degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
- Experience in technical consulting for the mining industry.
- Knowledge of Orica's products and digital solutions for mining operations.
- Knowledge of digital solutions and technologies used in the mining industry.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
