Position Summary:
Experienced Investment Risk Sr. Associate participates in developing and implementing global risk management report, system and processes to support effects to minimize investments risk from various aspects.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in asset class risk reporting reviews and driver analysis.
- Researches investment organization and business activities while under guidance, to evaluate their risk to exposures; monitors all Investment Risk management policies and procedures, limits and guidelines.
- Perform statistical analysis to report, monitor, measure, and manage various risk exposures.
- Identify, research, and highlight significant investment trends, risk profile evolution and major risks across General Account asset classes. Help in enhancing reporting capabilities and portfolio surveillance.
- Assist and act as a liaison with Risk IT to implement and develop some of these risk reports in production.
- Assist in tail risk modeling and limit setting.
Nature of Impact
- Help in Investment Risk analysis, monitoring and reporting.
- Efficiently and effectively deliver Investment Risk reporting which helps in monitoring the risk appetite of TIAA.
- Inform strategies to tilt TIAA’s investment portfolio towards lower risk intensity, identify other risk attributes of the portfolio.
Problem Solving
Understanding, measuring and managing Investment Risk at the portfolio, sector, and investment level.
- Apply analytical techniques to assess risk and apply that in the risk reports
Functional Knowledge:
- Familiarity with statistical methods (regression techniques, calibration methods)
- Familiarity with fixed income pricing and equity pricing analytics
- Ability to run excel vba macros and understand excel formula to assist in risk reporting
- Ability to support documentation acceptable to model risk functions and reviews by internal audit
- Ability to learn and operate various Investment Risk analytics from Vendors (notably MSCI Risk Manager)
Business or Industry Expertise:
- General understanding of market and Investment Risk
