Purpose:
The objective of this role is to play a critical role of enabling profitable business growth and ensuring effective management of the risks by design and implementation of sound underwriting policies and processes within the pricing accommodations.
Key Focus areas:
- Leading and directing the overall underwriting strategy, operations, and policy development across all product lines aligned to Company's overall strategy and goals.
- Ensuring high quality of business by effective and efficient underwriting processes leveraging data and technology.
- Ensuring adherence to per-defined TATs for all underwriting processing activities.
- Proactive collaboration with relevant stakeholders (including but not limited to actuarial/risk/claims/analytics/tech/compliance team, reinsurers, TPAs, IIB, insuretech companies) for continuous improvement and innovation within the function.
- Ensuring compliance of underwriting operations with respect to all regulatory and internal policies.
- Ensuring training and professional growth of team-members
- Actively contributing to Product Development processes and other relevant projects
Qualification & competencies required:
- A qualified medical professional with degree in any medical/para-medical/pharmaceutical
- 14-18 years of experience in underwriting for life and/or health insurance
- Should also bring valuable team management experience.
- Additional certifications such as III, LOMA, and ALU would be considered advantageous.
