The client is a leading foundry manufacturing business started in 1980s and are running four grey and ductile iron foundries as well as a steel fabrication shop with a combined capacity of 100,000 tons. They are established across 50+ countries globally.

Job Description

  • Develop and execute the manufacturing strategy aligned with the company's overall objectives and the vision across New plant, new machine, new product , production increase decisions along with the directors and experts.
  • Understand stakeholder expectations and work towards achieving them by conducting manufacturing-manpower-capacity planning, setup quality, cost and delivery expectations, review plans periodically against progress, communicate plans to operations on a timely basis in order to cater to future needs or increase in orders.
  • Provide strong leadership and vision to the plant's management team and staff.
  • Participates and suggests the International Joint Ventures, Technical representation in international trade exhibitions, technology fairs, technical collaborations.
  • Leading major customer technical discussions to bring the best fit between their requirements, needs and Crescent Foundry production capabilities and technology. Converting potential customers by technically convincing them when requirements are unique and new (not standard).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as International Marketing -Sales, engineering, and new product development, to align operations with business goals.
  • Participate and guide, plan and deploy - make, decline or buy decisions, review, reorganise and rationalise manufacturing facilities, plan vendor development and management initiatives that creates value and support fluctuating business needs.
  • Lead and guide advanced manufacturing technologies and automation systems and identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Production Planning & Control : Lead and Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple plants, ensuring production schedules with optimal resource allocation with quality standards.
  • Plant -Process Engineering: Lead efforts to optimize production processes and workflow. Supervise major breakdowns, preventive maintenance, utilities/spares planning, to ensure efficient productivity (without any loss).
  • Participate in key Purchase discussions and decisions like to buy the iron & steel raw material, technical equipments, etc.)
  • Reporting & Analysis: Avail regular reports on plant performance, including key metrics (L-10 Meetings, KPIs Review, ROCKS Achievement), production output, quality levels, and cost efficiencies. Analyse data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate and Supervise despatch of final products in order to meet delivery timelines and expectations.
  • Monitor availability and inventory of critical items, stock to ensure optimum and benchmark inventory management system.
  • Develop and deploy operational excellence guidelines in the business units, support and review implementation of new processes, benchmarks, standards for operational excellence.
  • Drive initiatives for process optimization, automation, and technology adoption to enhance productivity and efficiency (Like Lean Manufacturing, World Class Foundry Process, TPM, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc).
  • Ensure the high engagement and motivation of the plant and key team. Set performance goals, review and provide feedback to leadership team. Identify training & developmental needs for operations team and ensure training. Ensure succession planning for the key roles of the plants.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate plant managers and other key personnel. Delivering system development and implementation trainings for the leadership team at plant.
  • Foster a culture of appreciation, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement and CF-values within the Organisation.Ensure all plants comply with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards in the area of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for workplace safety.
  • Coordinate and organize audits, review the issues towards compliance, maintain a healthy and clean work environment, take appropriate measures to implement regulatory requirement related to foundry industry, adopt practices which ensure safety of man and machine.

The Successful Applicant

  • Preference: Either from Kolkata or Comfortable to settle down in Kolkata for long term
  • Education: BE / B Tech ( Min) - Preferred; Engineering graduate(mechanical/Foundry)/ MBA(operations) with 15 years of experience
  • Age: 50 Yrs. Max
  • Work Experience: Min 3 yrs. as Operations Head, VP- Group, Executive -Director (Manufacturing) or similar role
  • Profile Stability: Minimum 5 years in one organization; (at least have handled the production from start to end )
  • Industry: Foundry, Manufacturing , Auto Ancillary (Casting/Fabrication) / Forging
  • Work Exposure: Extensive experience in manufacturing operations, with a proven track record of successful leadership. Technical understanding of manufacturing process, knowledge of Marketing - Manufacturing - Product. Understanding of strategy & Financial ratios; Heading Multiple Plants.
  • Language: English+Hindi Mandatory , Bengali preferred
