As we progress on this journey, we need to establish a new and refreshed IT Asset Management backbone to our technology organisation in support of our transformation. You will play a key role in helping to shape and build the HAM capabilities within WPP and will be responsible for operating elements of the Hardware Asset Management (HAM) practice, so that we are able to optimise our asset base and manage/reduce risk.

The ITAM function is responsible for deploying and enforcing best practice on the IT E2E asset lifecycle.


What you'll be doing:

The Hardware Asset Manager is responsible for the lifecycle management of IT assets and the operation of key controls. This includes: -


  • Development and deployment of Asset Management strategies, policies, standards, plans, procedures, and guidelines. Communicating the value of these across a continually shifting estate involving multiple IT teams, platforms, and business units.
  • Lead a continuous improvement approach to operating HAM activity in WPP
  • Manages and maintains the service compliance of IT assets in line with business and regulatory requirements. Managing corrective actions to resolve areas of non-compliance or breaches to policy.
  • Applies tools, techniques, and processes to create and maintain an accurate asset register.
  • Responsible for developing an asset control process to monitor accountability.
  • Ensure effective management of the CMDB H/W asset inventory and accuracy of data within; Perform verification and audits of CMDB content; Ensure moves/adds/changes are correctly recorded
  • Produces reports and analysis to support Asset Management activities and aid decision-making. Providing advice on complex Asset Management issues.
  • Chair cross function, cross company Asset governance meetings. C-level stakeholder management
  • Responsible for finding, assessing, and quantifying the risks in Asset Management and assisting business owner in the management and mitigation of those risks.
  • Ensures asset controllers, infrastructure teams, 3rd Parties and the business co-ordinate and optimise value, maintain control, and maintain appropriate legal compliance.
  • Identify IT Asset cost optimisation opportunities (reduce, reuse, and recycle) and lead the projects to achieve savings, working closely with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure technologies; Network, Server, Storage and End User Computing and their maintenance and support contracts.
  • Has experience of working with Service Now, specifically ITOM, Discovery, CMDB and HAM modules.

What you'll need:

Qualification Requirements (Desirable)

  • Degree in engineering, computer science, finance or equivalent (i.e. MBA) desirable but not essential
  • Minimum 7-10 years working in a Hardware Asset Management role or related
  • Minimum 5-7 years working with ITAM or CMDB tools

Skill Requirements

  • Strong experience and background in Hardware Asset Management disciplines and ITIL
  • Expertise in end-to-end Asset Lifecycle Management (acquisition/build to retirement/decommission)
  • Expert analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyse and interpret significant amounts of information accurately
  • High competency in HAM data modelling and a deep bias towards data-driven decision making
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with IT Asset Management tools, ServiceNow and CMDB.
  • Expert communicator with a track record of operating, partnering with and influencing business stakeholders and ability to translate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced organizational transformation and able to navigate and champion change across organisational / geographical complexity.
  • Excellent organizational skills: detail-oriented, thorough, dependable, and trustworthy, with a positive attitude
  • C- level stakeholder management
