Role Summary:
The General Manager - Finance will play a pivotal role in steering the financial direction of the company, ensuring its financial health and maximizing profitability. This position demands a strategic thinker with robust experience in retail finance, capable of managing financial operations, developing strategies for growth, and leading financial planning efforts. This also entails overseeing flawless operations in terms of Accounting, MIS, Cashflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the finance department, overseeing financial operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
- Enhance and enforce policies and procedures for financial management, including internal controls and financial risk management.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and funding strategies to support business operations and growth.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the company (e.g., evaluation of potential alliances, investments, and/or mergers and acquisitions).
- Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
- Work closely with other departments to drive profitability, including optimizing cost structures and enhancing revenue streams.
- Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and other partners.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (CA, CA inter) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior management role, preferably in the retail or home furnishing sector.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, retail market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and strategic financial management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Strategic thinker with an analytical mind, capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
