Purpose
- Provides the Formulation Engineering technical capability in both existing and novel manufacturing technologies to maximize quality, capacity, and efficiency outcomes during scale-up, and after launch, of new formulated products to commercial manufacture.
- Identify and generates the process definition in local CP capital projects, including process design and equipment evaluation and specification.
- Identify and progress projects to increase local manufacturing capacity, improve quality and/or reduce manufacturing costs at CP sites and/or the bulk supply chain.
- Provides advice for the creation and implementation of development programs and procedures within the Formulation Engineering processing area.
Accountability
- Support all Safety and Compliance requirements. Must be fully knowledgeable of, and compliant with all Syngenta safety/HSE policies and department standard operating procedures. Drive a strong safety culture of individual accountability.
- Delivers the scale-up of formulation processes from lab to full-scale manufacturing ensuring process safety, health and environmental subjects are fully anticipated.
- Troubleshooting process issues and providing solutions to manufacturing
- Responsible for inter-site technology transfer or re-siting of products and a member of the technical start-up team for new processes and equipment at Syngenta manufacturing sites or tollers.
- Designs pilot plant trials and full-scale manufacturing trials and documents key process considerations - writes technical reports, operating procedures, trains operating team, provides technical supervision, documents the outcomes, and identifies next steps and shares best practices.
- Applies Formulation Engineering processing knowledge to identify solutions that improve capacity, quality, and cost efficiency at manufacturing sites and/or in the bulk supply chain and is a member of or leads the project teams that implement these solutions.
- Recognized as having technical experience in Formulation Engineering processing and is a resource for other engineers globally.
- Co-leads projects to seek out and introduce innovative manufacturing technologies for implementation in the pilot plant, production sites or supply chain.
- Co-lead evaluation and trials novel processing technologies and techniques, and works with site manufacturing teams to introduce into full-scale manufacture in CP.
- Recognized as technical support for the departmental personnel being awareness of technical advances inside and outside Syngenta.
- Hands-on ability and capability to design pilot studies utilizing DoE to execute experimental/scale-up work plans.
- Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize work.
- Support related teams for root cause analysis for product quality complaints and process deviations.
