Engineer - Welding

Primary Role type (Technical, Functional, or Managerial) - Technical

Function - Engineer Welder

Business Unit - Industrial

Location - Lucknow AMTC

Reporting to (grade and Job Title) - M/AM, Post-cast Operations

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary: As a Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful welding of cast components, overseeing welding processes, conducting quality inspections, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize welding operations. Your expertise will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and quality of our casting products.

1 - Key Responsibilities:

a) Strategic

• Support to establish, implement and maintain Management Systems such as ISO 9001, AS 9100D, and their related requirements respectively.
• Support in compliance with customer requirements.

b) Operational

• The job holder is responsible to implement Welding related activities on Shop Floor.
• Support in preparation of WPS/PQR/Welder’s Qualification as per code requirement.
• The job holder is responsible for preparing Welding Report/Weld Map as per NADCAP/WPS/PQR/ Specification/ Code, etc.
• The job holder must ensure the testing, inspection, and storage of all filler materials.
• The job holder must ensure that all quality parameters and norms are followed for welding processes.
• Ensure that material and product identification and traceability are maintained at all relevant stages.
• To assure that customer requirements, as well as applicable National or International standard requirements, have been met in responsible activities.
• Support in 5 S and Kaizen activity.
• To work with all safety risk and environmental aspects guidelines.

c) Process improvements

• The jobholder is responsible for bringing about process innovations for improving from a quality assurance standpoint.

d) Financial

• The job holder is responsible for achieving a reduction in costs through process/product improvements/innovations and other quality initiatives.
• The job holder is responsible for monitoring rejection both scrap and rework.

e) Authority -

• To hold any Job after consultation with HOD / Quality In charge upon finding any ambiguity.
• To clear the job after successful inspection to the next stage after consultation with HOD / Quality In charge if found ok.
• Rejection of items if any abnormalities are observed with the consultation of Incharge / Manager in his absence in Welding, and Dimension-related activities.
• The job holder is responsible for releasing any product after consultation with HOD / Quality In charge.
• To take necessary actions and disposition of nonconforming outputs after consultation with HOD / Quality In charge.

f) People

• Responsible for providing on job training on Welding related topics to Welders after getting self-trained on the subject matter.

g) Accountability -

• To ensure a safe work environment within the working area along with the safety officer, Quality, and Operation Head.
• The Jobholder must ensure Product safety and prevent the FOD and Counterfeit parts in their concerned area.

2 - Competencies and Skills

• Knowledge of Welding and Allied Processes.
• Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of Inspection equipment and gauges.
• Knowledge of software i.e.; 1-Factory, Effivity.
• Knowledge of 5 core tools (APQP, FMEA,SPC, MSA, PPAP).
• Knowledge of 7 QC tools.
• Knowledge of Computer and report preparation.
• Knowledge of applicable National or International standards for dimension.

3 - Qualification

• B.Tech/Diploma(Mechanical/Welding/Material Science/Metallurgy)

4 - Experience

• 02 years minimum in the field of fabrication/casting repair/Aerospace/Pipeline etc.
