Director, Technology Business Excellence– Pune, India

In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to the Pune TEC Leadership and Global Head of Strategy, Transformation and Governance, across all areas of responsibility within Technology and working with key senior stakeholders in the region and globally. As a key member of the Pune TEC Management team, you will look after Governance & Enable Tech Strategy, Communications, People Engagement and Branding, Project Management, Leadership, Tracking and aligning to financial targets.


Role Responsibilities


  • Working in close partnership with Tech leadership team to influence and execute interventions in all the above areas.
  • Working in close partnership with Finance to ensure efficiency in operating cost, vendor cost and seat utilization cost.
  • Drive governance and transformation projects across multiple geographies with an aim to meet the Tech OKRs(savings and efficiencies) and maintain & communicate the metrics associated with these projects.
  • Creating, maintaining & upgrading the User experience dashboard across all tech platforms using Quanta metric & Akamai tools to help identify tech challenges & bugs and providing resolution metrics.
  • Workforce planning for Tech Organization - location strategy, organization design principles and capacity management.

Governance & Transformation
 


  • Leads the continuing development, implementation and improvement of governance processes and framework in global Technology Organization to support compliance of Group and IT Policies and Standards.
  • Acts as catalyst for the Tech Leadership team, driving and documenting key decisions on efficiencies and savings and providing leadership oversight for the delivery of these actions.
  • Leads through partnership with subject matter experts across functions, levels, and geographies to ensure that the transformation projects are delivered on-time with high quality repeatedly.
  • Drive and measure all transformation projects globally in the Tech organization – location, People and capacity strategy.
    • Leading governance of company-approved vendors (66 vendors with multiple contracts across multiple locations) globally and ensuring compliance with Company policies and standards.

Financial planning


  • Oversight on vendor cost, insourcing vs outsourcing cost benefits and site utilization cost
  • Governed targets (Annual budgets) - Work with CTO to ensure that all financial metrics are being tracked.
  • Partner with Finance and Tech leadership to stay on track with operating costs and implement remedial actions when required.
  • Contribute to the Monthly review forums with required data and details. Prepare MBRs and financial metrics.
  • Manage the various non-financial targets such as:
    o Headcount Perm & Vendors (1700 + 2800) = 4500
    o Perm-Vendor Ratios and Location spread.
    o Vendor split, Grade split, SOC/Layers etc

Vendor Management
 


  • Developing and sustaining long-standing relationships with company-approved vendors (66 vendors with multiple contracts across multiple locations)
  • Vendor Assessment – Identify new vendors, assess their Service standards, partner with procurement to negotiate and on-board new vendors.
  • Conceptualizing standards and metrics to assess the performance of approved vendors and continuously making recommendations to improve vendor performance.
  • Evaluating current vendor management programs and identifying ways to improve them.
  • Leading the team that is reviewing performance of Vendors globally and accrediting agent metric for release of payment.

Workforce Management:
 


  • Assessing workforce requirements across Tech organization globally and evaluating the business needs and cost implications
  • Supporting CTO in making informed decisions on workforce planning – location, capacity, cost and capability
  • Supporting Tech leadership in continuously evaluating the vendor vs FTE footprint and making informed decisions through structured reporting and metrics
  • Partnering with HR to work on Org design principles across Tech organization globally with an aim to optimize cost and efficiency.
  • Publishing cost and efficiency metrics on workforce planning in MBRs and reports
    Metrics and Reporting
  • Creating, maintaining & upgrading the user experience dashboard across all tech platforms using Quanta metric & Akamai tools to help identify tech challenges & bugs and providing resolution metrics.
  • Constantly monitoring the user experience dashboard to be currently relevant and accurate
  • Creating different reports and metrics for MBRs, reports and monitoring

Role Requirements


  • 20+ years of progressive experience and cross-functional knowledge working in global organizations.
  • Working knowledge of various Tech domains.
  • Knowledge of Reporting tools and techniques such as Quanta metric & Akamai.
  • Outstanding analytical and reporting skills for complex, global programs.
  • Ability to collaborate with executive and other senior leaders across Western Union to ensure the execution and progress transparency of critical business initiatives.
  • Effective coaching skills and the ability to lead through influence and negotiation.
  • Strong business acumen, organization, multi-tasking, analytical
  • Track record of large-scale program design and implementation
  • High level of drive and motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously across the globe.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language to support problem analysis and in recognition of the global remit of this role.
  • Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group.
  • Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the business and Regions.
  • Practical experience of major business transformation activities.
  • Strong financial analytical background and proven ability in financial/analytical reasoning, including being able to contextualize financial data into business activities and conclusions.
