Job Description: Teradata Database Administrator (DBA)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Teradata DBA responsible for the management and optimization of our Teradata database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our databases while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to support our organization's data needs.
Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Administer, monitor, and maintain Teradata database systems, ensuring optimal performance, high availability, and robust security measures.
- Performance Optimization: Execute database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization techniques to enhance system efficiency and responsiveness.
- System Upgrades & Maintenance: Lead database upgrades, apply patches, and execute migrations as required, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless transitions.
- Backup & Recovery: Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies, guaranteeing data integrity and rapid recovery in case of system failures.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve database-related issues, conducting in-depth root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Collaboration & Support: Engage collaboratively with development, infrastructure, and data analytics teams, providing technical support, guidance, and proactive solutions for database-related needs.
- Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain clear and concise documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Drive adherence to best practices in database design, development, and implementation.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Teradata Database Administrator or in a similar role, demonstrating a track record of successful database management and optimization.
- Skills: Proficiency in Teradata database administration, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance. Strong expertise in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of SQL, scripting languages, and database monitoring tools. Experience with backup and recovery procedures is essential.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to analyze complex database-related issues.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Teradata certifications or relevant industry certifications are a plus.
- Additional Skills: Experience with other database technologies or cloud-based databases. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies would be beneficial.
