 We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of  VP - Senior ODD Research Analyst.

  • Global Manager Selection - Fund & ETFs (GMS) is the designated Centre of Reference in charge of selection, research and approval of all funds and ETFs, which are sold/distributed by various HSBC Group business such as Wealth and Personal Banking, Private Banking, and various Insurance entities, across the globe. GMS is a global team, based in London, Bangalore and Hong Kong, responsible for mutual funds across all the asset classes encompassing Equity, Fixed Income, and Multi-Asset.
  • The GMS team role is to ensure that mutual funds and ETFs recommended to clients or used by Group businesses have been subjected to the Group’s approved due diligence and selection process and have been manufactured by an approved fund management group.

The Opportunity:


  • Within GMS the Operational Due Diligence team is responsible for conducting operational due diligence on fund management groups and ETF Providers. The candidate will be part of a global team which is in-charge of the onboarding and monitoring of 200+third party asset managers used by HSBC Group business, across all locations globally.
  • In this role, candidate will
  • Lead due diligence efforts on prospective fund management groups and ETF Providers in order to identify and assess operational risk issues prior to on-boarding.
  • Assess fund management groups to i) understand their structure, ii) evaluate their processes, procedures, and controls, and iii) identify potential reputational risks that the HSBC Group and clients may be exposed to by recommending the manager’s funds.
  • Provide HSBC customer groups with a high-quality service, providing updates on ongoing due diligence projects, clearly communicating due diligence outcomes, and handling any queries through to resolution

What you’ll do:


The primary responsibilities include:


  • Coverage of around 40 to 50 asset management companies, based in various jurisdictions.
  • Conduct in-depth organizational due diligence and to form independent views and to articulate them through detailed research notes.
  • This would include among others to
  • Coordinate, prepare, and conduct due diligence on-site visits / calls as well as research interviews.
  • Produce research note in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure the efficient ongoing surveillance of asset management companies.
  • Work collaboratively with a number of product providers and stakeholders within the group.
  • Actively participate in the approval meetings and processes.
