Overview: We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Vice Chancellor for our upcoming university in Dehradun, India. The Vice Chancellor will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, fostering academic excellence, and promoting the overall growth and development of the university. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the institution and establishing it as a premier Centre for higher education in the region.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategic plan for the university in alignment with its mission and goals.
- Lead the implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance the university's academic reputation, research output, and student experience.
- Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement across all aspects of the university's operations.
Academic Excellence:
- Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality academic programs that meet the needs of students and industry.
- Promote excellence in teaching, research, and scholarly activities among faculty members and students.
- Ensure compliance with academic standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Faculty and Staff Management:
- Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and talented team of faculty and staff members.
- Provide leadership and support for faculty development, including mentoring, training, and professional growth opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, innovation, and mutual respect.
Student Success and Engagement:
- Enhance the student experience by promoting academic excellence, student support services, and extracurricular activities.
- Champion initiatives to enhance student retention, graduation rates, and overall satisfaction.
- Engage with students, faculty, and staff to address concerns, solicit feedback, and promote a culture of student-centeredness.
External Relations and Partnerships:
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders to enhance research, innovation, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Represent the university in external forums, conferences, and events to raise its profile and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with alumni, donors, and supporters to secure funding, resources, and support for the university's initiatives and projects.
Qualifications:
- An earned doctoral degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field.
- A distinguished record of academic achievement, scholarship, and leadership in higher education.
- Proven experience in senior administrative roles, preferably as a Vice Chancellor, Provost, or Dean(Business/Computer Science) in a reputable university.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage resources effectively, and achieve measurable results.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of university life.
- Knowledge of higher education policies, regulations, and trends, particularly in the Indian context.
- The Vice Chancellor will report to the university's Board of Governors and work closely with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to advance the mission and objectives of the institution.
